2022 and 2023 were NOT THAT GREAT of contests. There were so many songs that left something to desire and in both years a lot of people where underwhelmed with the winner naming other reasons than the quality of the song for its triumph. It's interesting how people already rewrite history.
I don't know how much about these rumours are legit and what Conchita (What is their pronoun right now BTW? I think it changed over the year) just spreading around to get focus on them. I always think coming back is a risky choice for a winner, especially when you were a true underdog the first time. If they will start again they would a) not have that, b) likewise having a much different style both aesthetically and music wise than with their winning song and c) would return the year after Loreen got a much-discussed win as another returning-winner.
I don't think it would be a good idea. The sticks are too high for an underwhelming result and frankly, I think it would backfire. Most people don't remember that Dana International represented Israel in the 2010s but everyone remembers her winning moment so I guess if she would flop it wouldn't have an impact on her legacy though.
I understand that Conchita is a very relaxed person. She achieved a lot of things and is an independent artist now doing a lot of different things besides singing. I think she still leads a relatively modest life. Becoming a huge world star, receiving a Grammy..... I think thats not important to her anymore. Her attempt to win the ESC a second time will be different to Loreens very desperate attempt (though it was successful). If she wants it then ORF could not say no of course. But this time they should decide on her only together with the right song and concept for the show.Okay I'm gonna say it and I know I'm gonna be attacked for it but in my opinion and to me it feels like sending a former winner again is trying to score bonus points by going for the "It's a former winner!!" vibe, I felt that way with Loreen coming back this year and I'll probably feel the same if Conchita would return next year. And I think more people would feel that way and that's risk if you're aiming to win again.
I mean, it felt like Dana International in 2011 and Alexander Rybak in 2018 didn't actually aim for a win, but then I'm really not sure what's in it for a former winner to return to Eurovision as a competing artist.

Thats exactly what I was trying to say. I dont think (and neither wish) that she will return in 2024.Lol weren't you the one agreeing with a post that was hoping for less negativity and bitterness? I have a hard time fitting "Loreens very desperate attempt" in that light
Surely as an Austrian you followed Conchita more than I did so sure, she should/could return if she has the full package to win if she wants to win another time, I personally wouldn't like seeing two former winners in a row winning for a second time because I like the freshness of someone new, and ORF should really be careful by picking her because "she wants to and they can't say no". I mean.. we picked a song written by Duncan Laurence this year and look how that turned out for us
Wow you are from Austria and you don't support your own country. Why are you so negative eidechse? Austria is not Sweden? Nor is Italy Belgium.. Wtf are you trying to say. Didn't Austria win both jury and televote in 2014. I am pretty sure that Conchita wouldn't just be interested if her song isnt level quality of rise like a phoenix or even better. These news if true would make me the happiest guy in the world. This is about Eurovision legend who I hope is inspired by loreen win.. remember guys Ireland won in late 1990s one year after another for almost every time.
"Huge jurry support won't be there". And you based your opinion on nothing but assumption. What are you even talking about. Cha ha cha finished 4th in esc 2023 in jurry with one of weakest vocals.
Some female acts I would like to see at Eurovision:
BEX
Mella Casata
LYLIT
OSKA
CHRISTL
Maybe in 2026.
I only heard the first one Nono punch. Rap+ Eurovision hardly something good. It worked for kalush from Ukraine and only because of current situation. @marty where do you see winning material for Eurovision in that song. I feel like you can hear that kind of song all over American radio stations.
I haven't heard rest of those songs.
Melata casata??? Really Marty??? Surprised at your taste. Too repetitive and same genre as who the hell is Edgar. Not genre, but instrumental.
Lylit good voice, atmospheric ballad but it didn't struck me. Conchita does it better.
Oska??? Really Marty??? More for radio than Eurovision. Where is the winning material. Where is umpfff in her voice. Got bored at the half listening.
Christel??? Really Marty?? Where is winning vibe in these songs. My god, it made me got asleep. Good for radio.
Somebody that already knows how Eurovision is done. Somebody with amazing vocal. Somebody who will grab our attention way way way more than any of average borderline unlistenable radio songs that @marty wrote. Ohh and I forgot to write about Nono punch that you can probably hear that in cardi b or Nicki Minaj latest tracks. Something that is assumingly very overproduced in Americaand who do you suggest?
Austria is just not full of potential Eurovision winning artists, I would say.
I guess marty suggested the artists, not the songs. there is not a big market for pop music in austria. but it is very rich in electronic and alternative. I dont think it is wise to limit the selection to a certain genre or exclude certain ones.True but I don't think we do ourselves a favour by showcasing artists with songs that don't go anywhere. Austrians know how to do classical and folk music. Pop, not so much. It's always very forced, moody, pseudo-sophisticated, not catchy at all. Vincent Bueno and Paenda are great examples..first 40 seconds you are hooked, OK, OK, cool, now gimme more. ..... Oh that's it? Meh.
"Funny" is a niche that seems to work for us. But I don't see us being able to able to deliver something like Unicorn or I Wrote A Song.
"Nobody but you" was a huge suprise in terms.of quality pop.
I think @marty wanted to show us the best songs those artists have to offer in his opinion and if that's the case no, thank you.
Austria is still the country I am mostly excited about. Ok Ireland and jedward as well, but way behind level of excitement I'm feeling about Austria.
