Not really, the portuguese and spanish judges rarely give points to one another.
Anyway... Diana Vilarinho just released a video to the song that didn't got a single 12 from the "professional" juries of Festival da Canção:
A portuguese magazine, Blitz, reported that RTP is "preparing it's official position" regarding the televote result.
Unsure what that means and what RTP's position will actually be.
Edit: It was the producer of the portuguese nf that said that "RTP was preparing it's official position", but the...
You're misremembering it. On semi1 La Chispa won the jury vote, semi1 it was Mel Ömana and in the final it was J Kbello with 74 points, with Daniela Blasco got 71 points from the judges and Melody 70 points. It hasn't consensual and I remmember people saying that the small marging between the...
In final I think the same, just for the fact that there was no metal in this year's lineup, but I'm not sure if she would have made it past the semifinal. Napa benefited from being a quiet song in the middle of a lot of noise.
This year both Peculiar and Napa where invited by the broadcaster after trying to compete through the free submition in the previous year, so I'm hoping to see next year André Duarte, who tried to compete in Festival da Canção 2025 with:
Although I hope he brings something more like this:
Portugal this year had to reveal it's budged and they mentioned that part of it was to pay the national judges. I honestly tought that the judges were just invinted pro-bono and not paid, silly me. So yes, I think part of why they don't expand to 10 or more is because the broadcasters will have...
I think removing the judges from the semifinals is the reason why the quality has dropped so much. For most countries qualifying to the final is already a victory, you can't blame them to go for the most in your face and loud songs to captivate the televote.
I felt a similar vibe when they where in the last stretch of the televote, not sure it was because of the audience or because who was winning of the time, but something was off.
Spain is probably the only country that would benefit if they did a 100% jury vote national final.
Chanel only won in 2022 because the judges flopped Rigoberta and Tanxungeiras and this year the jury's favorites was J Kbello, who had a much stronger package overall and recently released this bop:
There should be a middle ground where the delegations can ask the production team to turn the audio turn the audience on or off.
Having the public screaming and singing along can help some songs, but for others, more intimate songs, it is better to just mute the audience.
I wonder if the decision to cut the audio of the audience harmed Erika, the song was made to have the audience screaming "ich komme" but that didn't hapenned. Go-Jo was in a similar situation, but I think his staging was what killed his chances.
There's still the national final season. I personally have found it more enjoyable to follow the national finals than the contest itself in the past years.
