SBS have today announced Isaiah Firebrace’s duet partner for Eurovision – Australia Decides!
Described as “striking a balance between the wild sonic bliss of WILLOW and classic Gwen Stefani girl goddess energy”, Evie Irie is the long-awaited partner of the 2017 Australian entrant. Together, they will perform their self-penned anthem “When I’m With You”, to be released on February 4th.
They announced their collaboration in a pretty extraordinary way, as you can see below!
Isaiah’s smooth soulful vocals will be a strong contrast to Evie’s punk edge, which Creative Director of Eurovision – Australia Decides, Paul Clarke says “shows opposites attract”.
In a press release, Evie, a charismatic pop-punk newcomer said, “If there’s one thing I like as much as creating music for my own projects, it’s writing with other artists for their projects: it’s not work, it’s just fun! So when Isaiah and his team asked me to do Eurovision with this random wonderful song… that we had such a great time writing together, I was seriously shook. I never EVER thought I’d have the chance to play at Eurovision and I just can’t say no to Isaiah.”
Isaiah continued, “We wrote the song together, we jumped out of a plane together and we want to represent Australia together. Being together is what the song is all about and what the world needs right now.”
Also being announced on February 4th is the TikTok wildcard winner, who will take up the coveted 11th and final spot on the Australia Decides stage on February 26th.
