After a marathon week of live music, fashion, and competition, the Festival di Sanremo has concluded and Angelina Mango was crowned the winner with the song “La noia” (Boredom)!

At the beginning of the night, Amadeus finally revealed the full ranking of the 30 acts up till now. On previous nights, only the Top 5 were revealed and only for that night’s performances, so this was the first chance for us to see who were the overall favorites so far. This was the full classification of the artists:

In first place at this point was Geolier! But everything could still change; after all the acts performed again, tonight’s televotes were added to the existing scores to determine the Top 5 who would advance to the Superfinal. They were (in no particular order):

  • Irama – Tu no
  • Ghali – Casa mia
  • Angelina Mango – La noia
  • Geolier – I’ p’ me, tu p’ te
  • Annalisa – Sinceramente

At this point, all of the scores from the week reset, and all three audience groups – the press, radio jury, and televoters – voted one last time for their favorite of these five.

As the winner, Angelia Mango will now have to option to accept or deny the invitation to Eurovision in May. If she turns it down, the 2nd place artist Geolier may still have a chance to go to Malmö.

Update: during the winner’s press conference. Angelina Mango confirmed that she WILL represent Italy at ESC this May!

Other Highlights

Fiorello was Amadeus’ co-host tonight. It was a bittersweet night for Amadeus as it was the last time he will host Sanremo, after five years in a row at the helm of the musical festival. Tananai performed his Sanremo 2023 entry “Tango” on the Suzuki stage. Two-time Sanremo winner and Italy’s first ever Eurovision winner Gigliola Cinquetti took the stage later on to perform her 1964 entry, “Non ho l’età”, sixty years after she won the contest at only 16 years old! And then, right before the end of the show, we were treated to a surprise performance by Lazza, who performed a new track while the final votes were being tabulated.
