The selection for the United Kingdom’s representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is well underway. The BBC has released details about the selection process noting that once again the singer and song will be internally selected by BBC Studios Entertainment and Music with the CBBC supporting.
The Director of BBC Children’s and Education, Patrick Hidalgo states:
“Following on from the fabulous spectacle of the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year in Liverpool, we are so proud to once again bring Junior Eurovision to the BBC and to give children and their families the opportunity to enjoy this incredible show together.”
This year’s Contest will be held in Nice, France on 26 November 2023 with the show due to be broadcast live on CBBC and BBC iPlayer.
The UK returned to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest last year after a 17 year break from the contest. Freya Skye, the UK representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Lose My Head” finished 5th with 146 points and won the online public vote scoring 80 points.
