It was another exciting night in San Marino, and it ended with celebration for one Slovenian band.

BOOOM!, a three-man electro pop-rock band made up of members Patrik Mrak, Luka Cvetiฤanin, and Matevลพ Derenda impressed the Una Voce per San Marino jury with their performance of the song “Dance Like This” and won a direct ticket to the competition’s final night.

BOOOM! have been releasing singles since 2000. Their back catalogue can be listened to on their Spotify page.ย  Speaking to Evrovizija shortly after the announcement, the boys were thrilled and surprised at their success:

“We honestly didn’t expect to win. We said, ‘it’s impossible’… We actually couldn’t believe it.”

BOOOM! will join yesterday’s winner, Italian singer-songwriter duo Daudia, in Saturday’s Grand Final, alongside the eight previously announced big names and singer Dana Gillespie performing the AI generated song “The Last Polar Bear”.

Joining BOOOM! on stage at the end of tonight’s show were the other four acts advancing to Friday’s second chance round: UVpSM veteran Basti, singer-songwriter Edoardo Brogi, 2019 The Voice of Italy contestant Camellini, and Spanish metal band Megara. Dedicated Eurovision fans will recognize the latter group as the 4th place finishers at last year’s Benidorm Fest.

Tomorrow night, 30 more acts will take to the stage in San Marino, hoping to snag a valuable ticket to the UVpSM Grand Final. Come back tomorrow to find out who nabs that golden ticket!
