Is Sanremo already over? If the Spotify numbers decided, it would be.

After debuting on the first night of Italy’s Sanremo Music Festival, Mahmood and Blanco’s “Brividi” debuted at #5 on the Spotify Global Chart. According to @chartdata on Twitter, this is the biggest debut for an Italian song in the history of that chart and accounts for over 3.5 million streams.

This is in addition to the over 3.8 million views the official music video has received since premiering two days ago.

Mahmood and Blanco placed 1st after night one of Sanremo and 2nd overall after the second half of acts performed last night. With three nights of competition remaining, it remains to be seen if they can stay at the top of the scoreboard. Regardless, win or lose, “Brividi” has already made an impact on the global music scene.

Are #YOU rooting for “Brividi” to win Sanremo? If not, who ARE #YOU backing? And slightly off-topic, but can believe Gianni Morandi is 77?! His song might be my favorite. Sound off in the comments below, in our forum, or on social media @ESCUnited.
