It’s just 6 days till the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy! Connor speaks to Portuguese representative MARO after her second rehearsal. They talked about preparing her Eurovision performance while doing her tour, bringing Diana Castro and Milhanas (who also competed at Festival da Canção) to the Eurovision stage with her and what you should know about her ESC2022 song Saudade, Saudade. Check out our interview in the video below!

About MARO

It wasn’t until she turned 19 that MARO realised she wanted to pursue music full time. Graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2017, the songstress made the tough decision to move to Los Angeles instead of going home to Portugal.

In her first year in LA, the artist released six self-written and self-produced albums. During this time, her Instagram caught the eye of Grammy winner, Jacob Collier, who invited her to join his debut touring band as a featured vocalist and instrumentalist.

In Turin, the artist will be joined on stage by five backing singers. For her participation, she’s invited Beatriz Fonseca, Beatriz Pessoa and Carolina Leite (that performed with her in the Portuguese national final) and adds two new names to her crew; Diana Castro and Milhanas (who were the interpreters of two songs on Festival da Canção 2022 Grand Final).

About her 2022 entry: “I think it’s just something intimate, it’s something so personal. It’s about loss, but it’s also celebration. It’s crazy how impactful our grandparents can be, and how it’s a reference to so many values, including unconditional love. Music is what gets us closest to that connection.Eurovision.tv

MARO will be performing 10th in the 1st Semi-Final on the 10th of May in Turin, Italy.
