I'm more of a wine person too but I've had the "pleasure" of learning about pálinka at Christmas the smell alone gets you high

Show me the person who can drink all the palinca from that horn and I will give to him 10 000 euro. It has a high alcohol content (52% legal percentage, but many times higher). I even can't breathe when I put my tongue on this drink. Actually last time that I drinked alcohol (beer ) was on 11 April last year.
