Looks like we have the same “vibe” in our songs

I can only assume that our entries this edition are the result of a Freaky Friday-style mind-switch plot. Great entry!!

"I thought I had time. Turns out, time had me." — Unknown

This is the last leg of my American journey, and as I wrap up this chapter, I’m finally sharing some of the songs I’ve kept pushing down my playlist. This edition’s song hits especially close to home—living the last days of my 20s, it resonates more than ever.

“Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan was my 9th most listened to song of 2024—and for good reason. It’s an electric, bittersweet anthem packed with glitter, grit, and one hell of a vocal performance. Chappell serves theatrical heartbreak on a silver platter, daring you to dance through the ache. It’s bold, it’s queer, and it leaves you both empowered and wrecked. If you haven’t heard it yet… good luck, babe—you’re about to be obsessed.

Gera's 190s in WorldVision
also known as The Stardust Decade 💫

When I look back at my run from 190 to 199, what started as quiet uncertainty became a radiant arc of reinvention, ambition, and stardust. I called it The Stardust Decade not just because of the big names I sent, but because of what each song represented: a spark, a risk, a shimmer of something bigger than the entry itself. One moment that still stings from this era is ofc when I sent Sabrina Carpenter. After everything she’s accomplished as an artist, seeing her fall short in the semis felt like déjà vu in the worst way. One day she will see the final again, it's one my WV stubborn ambitions.

This decade I learned that this contest isn’t just about winning. It’s about taking chances. To send pop songs without the fear of them dropping like flies in the contest - and some of them did, some did not. This era was also about curating stories, not just songs. I aligned myself with icons, but I never stopped looking inward. It was an era of coming to terms with leaving the 20s behind. I took risks. I sent scorewhores without shame because I loved them. I rose. I stumbled. And I came out of this decade reborn.

Thank you to everyone who listened, voted, and helped shape this arc. I don’t know what the next era holds—but I know it starts with stardust in my veins and fire in my chest. 💫

And a hint for what's to come...

“No spotlight. No glitter. Just a porch light in the distance and a name whispered in the dark. The beginning of a new era doesn't start with a bang, but with a thank you.”

Ramallah 201 ended up being a bit bittersweet for me. "The Favor is a project that reunites two artists I’ve loved for years - Finneas and Ashe. It was especially meaningful since this was also my 200th entry in the contest — a nice milestone to hit with a collaboration that felt personal and special. That’s why it stung a little to see it finish 19th with 53 points and miss the final. There’s always disappointment when something close to your heart doesn’t click with the wider audience, especially knowing this very formula once did win before with “Till Forever Falls Apart.”

I suppose it’s just another sign that the current contest meta isn’t really in line with my taste right now. That happens... tastes shift, trends change. Still, I’m proud of the entry and glad I got to mark my 200th with a song I genuinely stand by vibes-wise, regardless of the scoreboard.

On a brighter note, this isn’t the end of the story for The Favors. They’ve got a new album on the way, and if “The Hudson” is any indication, it’s going to be something really special. I’m excited to see what they bring next - even if it doesn’t win contests, I know it’ll win a place in my own rotation.

For Looren's Puke fantasy in Albania, I’ve decided to go with “Eternity” by Alex Warren. It’s worth mentioning that in WV199, Marcos actually sent Alex’s song “Ordinary” and sadly it only managed a 16th place with 59 points in the semi-final. I really hope "Eternity" walks a different path.

For those who don’t know him, Alex has one of those stories that really sticks with you. He lost both of his parents when he was still a teenager, his father to cancer when Alex was just 9, and his mother to addiction a few years later, after he kicked him out of the house. He’s been open about how music became both his escape and his way of processing all that grief, and you can definitely feel that rawness in his songwriting.

"Eternity" is a great example of that. It’s a heartfelt ballad, really leaning into themes of love, loss, and the idea of finding something everlasting even in the middle of tragedy. The track is also part of his newest album, "You’ll Be Alright, Kid", which digs even deeper into those experiences - kind of a diary of grief and overcoming it.

He’s honestly become one of the artists I’ve been listening to the most lately, especially since the album dropped. There’s just something about the way he wears his heart on his sleeve that keeps me coming back. At the end of the day, whether it climbs the scoreboard or not, I’m just glad to give Alex’s music another stage and a place in my playlist of songs sent in WV. xheart
