I don't love Finland's entry particularly, because it's not my cup of tea. But I gave it 2 points because it's a quality slow song.

Tooji is talented and "Stay" is freaking good. Give him a chance.

Eurovision needs all music genres, otherwise it would be a boring show. Let's be fair with all entries, people.
and THAT'S exactly why i would never give something zero points. Everything is good in some way. Also just for the fact that they have got on stage and is singing a song. I think that's some achievement in itself, no matter how bad the song is. But people seem to be very stubborn and grabbed by the moment. They either give the songs 0 or 12 points without being realistic.... -.-

But come on Matt, I see you are not into this kind of modern dance-pop anthems! You don't like Ireland's entry either. It's all about music taste, at the end of the day.

It's okay, we're allowed to like and dislike artists & songs. If we would agree on everything I may as well shut down the forum ;)

Norway is the only country that I awarded 0 points and I didn't give any 0 pointers in 2011. I don't agree with your statement that Tooji is talented. Based on that one performance I can only say that he can't sing and I find he has low charisma and stage presence. I won't even go too much into the song writing which I find incredibly bad and while even most songs that I can't stand have some redeeming qualities, this one doesn't. It's plastic, it's fake and the only thing it has going for it is that it can be considered catchy but that's not a skill to me.

I have always been a champion in defending opinions and musical taste. There is no such thing as objectivity when it comes to personal taste and preferences but when I look at this from a musicial composition point of view I just can't find anything good about it (again, minus the catchyness)

Lyrically, it's a weak song. But overall it's catchy and nice. A dance-pop anthem doesn't need strong lyrics, though. A dance-pop song is "plastic", like you claimed. There are not meaningful dance-pop songs like this one. It's all about fun, Matt. xpoke

I strongly disagree with you on this. "Norway is the only country that I awarded 0 points", which means you gave points to Georgia's entry. I have nothing against your opinions, but Norway's entry is far from being the worst here, buddy.

Yes. Giving 0 points is unrealistic and wrong. Just because you don't like some music genre, doesn't mean that song is trash. That's why I embrace all Eurovision entries. I just don't like all of them.

I thought voting in polls is all about taste, not musical quality of the song?

It depends. It's a personal choice, you know. People just can't stop giving 0 points because they hate, hate, hate that particular song... It's not cool.

Personally, my votes are according to musical quality. ;) But I have my taste, of course.

I'm glad you agree with me that it's plastic. And you're right, it's all about the fun, that is why we're here. And I consider most of the Euro/Dance/Pop entries cheap therefore my ranking. I'm not sure why we're arguing about my taste in music here just because you like it. I feel some few songs deserve 0 points and this one qualifies to it TO ME. Again, you're saying it's far from being the worst TO YOU!!!! Always remember the differentiation there cause I think it is the worst.

And I don't like Georgia either but at least that guy could sing and it gives me a good laugh (referring to redeeming qualities). It takes a lot for me to give 0 points and Norway should be proud and wear it as a badge of honor!!!! :D

My votes are based on my musical taste. If I like a song, even if it's crap I vote for it xshrug

A brief summary of the video:

He talks about his childhood when he had to flee from Iran because of the political landscape there. His family was involved politically (don´t know the scale though) and therefore couldn´t stay in Iran. It was a long journey from Iran to Norway. He also talks about the difficult times at his primary school when he was bullied. Children were calling him names and harm him. It was so bad that he had to transfer to another school since the principal didn´t do anything about it. He began at Rudolf Steiner where things changed for the better.

Briefly also talking about his job, he works in the child welfare and how it helps keeping him grounded.

I really, REALLY dislike his song, I get that unpleasant taste of swedish meatballs in my mouth as soon as I listen to his swedish crap. But all the interviews I've seen of him makes me genuinly like him as a person. He's only 24, but alreay very reflected, and he's got a social committment that I admire. He works with the child protective service, specializing in care of young orfant immigrants, and he comes out as really passionate about his job. Such a sweet young man, I would really like someone like him as my future son-in-law :)

And you are entitled to have that opinion. A song sounds different in every ear. But to separate the song and person you might appreciate the person at the very least. Then find another song that you can cheer for and vote for.

This is certainly not my type of song, though it's clever done. I'm pretty sure this will do very good in the contest.

Oohh that's why he related the arabic tune in the song because he's from Iran
I've been live in chaos, war, guns, explosion and everything so I can understand his life experience.
Good luck greetings from Indonesia.
