Speaking of new. The evolution of Kirkorov's cupboards/walls:

So what? It's not like they just had the wall in the background, it was actually used as an active prop and there was a purpose with it xshrug It was pretty theatrical and fun, like a play of some sort, we might have seen walls in performances in the past, but the concept of this performance was something new. We get it you don't like Kirkorov, I detest the guy aswell, but I have no problem praising where it's deserved xshrug The Moldovan act shouldn't be held accountable or hostages just because Kirkorov produced this.

Love the music in this one, one of the most memorable acts from both semis.
I expect a great result tomorrow xqueenbitch

I LOVED the staging. It has reminded me of some poorly-staged (likely poorly financed) operettas/musicals in our city's musical theatre. xheart I have been grinning excitedly half of the performance :D

Btw, small, really not wealthy country doing well ever since they joined.

We (Croatia) have no excuse.

Where's the similarity? Because everyone is having some wall/ screen thing in the performance? Well done, Sherlock...

Kirkorov produced the song and he probably had a say in the overall concept even if he might not be the one doing the actually staging.

But yeah, I find it far-stretched to call this a copycat just because of a wall being used as a prop, this was a small fun play, felt a bit like watching a cabaret or theater, I think they did a well-thought-out show.

Maybe the Croatian delegation does not have the confidence to gear up with the staging? Luxemburg may fall into this too. Malta is even smaller as a microstate, yet they manage to create super expensive stagings almost every year. It could be that some of the smaller countries do not know how to properly make staging with a reasonable budget or maybe does PSB and TRM have fairly large resources from a specific source?

The whole wealthy vs rich country in ESC is a bit tricky, since there are many other factors here. Luxembourg and Andorra are two of the wealthiest countries in Europe (actually in the world), yet their broadcasters are poor. Moldova is one of Europe's poorest countries, but they involve teams that often are rich like in this team Kirkorov which produced this and is one of Russia's most known and successful producers and surely he is adding alot to the budget here, not so much the Moldovan broadcaster I think. I think some of the Moldovan acts are produced by wealthy Russian or sometimes Romanian or Ukrainian production teams and might be on record labels in those countries as well, wheres for instance a Croatian act might not have those connections and the broadcaster might be poor as well. Then there are broadcasters in countries that might not be the richest, but still choose to spend cash on showing off in Eurovision while there are richer broadcasters in richer countries that don't prioritize this.

Is it possible to not like a song at all, but love a performance? That was my case yesterday. Moldova was so nice to watch at (for me the best live performnace next to Hungary). Just enjoyed it so much. Glad to see them again tomorrow!

RTL do not see any opportunities to take part as it could be a waste of the little resources they have. You have a point that Moldova outsourcing their productions to minimize the costs, Matla does the same. For Malta it's a huge opportunity beacuse like Iceland Malta has the largest viewership in the entire Europe in the numbers of percent. Eurovision is huge for them. Countries like UK they could be top 3 every year, both the british and BBC don't really care for the contest. That's why UK doesn't do well, but they could if they want to. Malta and Moldova do not have a large range of talents, the broadcasters however receive huge profits with the contributions with outsiders to make it through. That's why Bulgaria has become so successful recently.

I read somewhere that the Whole Performance only costs 5K Euro.

It was more in the line of our excuses here. “Oh we are too small, don’t have billions to spend blah blah”
It’s all crap. All you need is an idea and people who know what ESC is and how it works. So called proffesionals. Dirty word here, apparently.

Yes, I am angry

So happy that I supported this Entry from the Beginning and stayed strong against all the Haters and defended it.

Me too.
It was in my top 10 for a long time, then dropped when the last songs were revealed because there were so many good songs and now it went even to my top 5 after such a brilliant performance. Moldova is one of my very favourite countries in Eurovision - apart from a very few entries (maybe two) I loved every song of them so far and I heavily supported Moldova last year, so it's a pleasure to support them again this year! :)

And it's really stupid to say it's dated and a step backwards, because... what was Salvador, then?

Why does Eurovision have to be an addition to radio and TV? The main thing why I love Eurovision is that it is different from contemporary music. Eurovision has always been dated and a few years behind from what is actually "in" in the world, musicwise. Of course there must be modern songs to keep the younger audience that will move up but we don't need another Pop Idol, The Voice etc.

I really love that dated but sooo catchy mix of traditional tunes and cheap dance bass. (That's why Serbia was also in my top 10 for quite some time and I'm really happy they qualified!)

Me too, I liked this from the get-go as well!

I find it funny how people completely change their minds and jump on bandwagons though, I mean sure sometimes songs need to grow on us, but to drastically change your own opinion on music because it's suddenly "trendy" is just funny to me, and rather fake even.

I had both this and Cyprus in my initial top. 10, way before the rehearsals and semi finals and all the hype, so count me in! xcheer

I don't think people are changing their minds now because it's trendy, they're just changing their minds because they literally watched the performance for the first time yesterday and liked it.

Kirkorov (as expected) was awful in the qualifiers press conference, someone should have not let this guy talk. He used half of the time to promote Russia and when he presented the team as "international", he deliberately didn't mention Ukrainian although they had at least a couple of Ukrainian guys in the team and one of them is 1/3 of the group and they had to "remind" Kirkorov that among the nations he presented as part of this team, Ukrainian was also one of those. So embarrassing tbh.

I still like the entry though, well-thought-out performance, clever and entertaining. The song is nothing extraordinary, but it's catchy and a nice throwback to mid 00's ESC presented in a good package.
