More than 50 songs have been submitted to ERT, one week before the deadline!

I've just watched the Positive Energy Day 2022 festival live on youtube and it was beyond tragic. xfacepalm
There were only two singers who could sing and gave a great performance and these were of course Anna Vissi and Christos Mastoras from Melisses (also in duets).
But I still believe in Greece and always will.

Around 100 songs were submitted to ERT for the competition! That's around 60 more than last year. Finishing in the top 10 two times in a row has given the courage to more artists to submit their songs to ERT. Great job.

Would like to see Vasilis Kourtis but I think it'll be Evangelia
Kourtis song is being described as an "epic festive ballad" and if selected he will be accompanied by the "dream team" (nightmare team)...keep him and them far far far away.

Out of the known names Evangelia and Leon of Athens should be heads and shoulders above the rest. Both are singer/song writers and that is always the best option. Antonia Kaouri's song description also sounds interesting. xthink

Unfortunatelly we should better get used to the idea of Kourtis and Matzoukis being the favorites in this selection.

Not having heard the songs yet, and judging by the names, it's either Leon of Athens or Evangelia.
That girl named Cynthia is Polish (born in Cyprus).

Greek media is reporting that ERT is discussing holding a public vote to determine its entry for Eurovision 2023.

To Paron Newspaper in Greece is reporting that ERT is seriously considering whether to organise a national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. According to local media 30 songs have already been selected from 104 submissions received, with a shortlist being worked on by the selection committee.

A national selection has been considered in recent years by ERT as a way to boost interest in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, it is understood by OGAE Greece that the cost of organising such a show is currently the limiting factor.

Among the artists that are known to have submitted songs into the Greek selection according to OGAE Greece are:

  • Panagiotis Tsakalakos
  • Cynthia Verazie
  • Leon of Athens
  • Evangelia
  • Klavdia
  • Antigoni Buxton
  • Melissa Mantzoukis
  • Aretha
  • Vasilis Kurtis
  • Antonia Kaouri
  • Jimmy Sion
  • Harris Rivera

I'm not a fan of the new voting system but at least it will force ERT to change their tactic and stop choosing only jury baits.

Why? Greece would still have made it through in 2019-2022 and still finish top 10 in 2021-2022, literally nothing would change.
Cause if they keep going with jury friendly songs, sooner or later we will NQ cause after all, all these entries were borderline qualifiers with televoting.

And I personally don't mind it, but ERT's primary goal seems to be high viewership so if we don't qualify or get a low final placement it will be a problem for them.
