My oh my this year's Contest has been nothing but drama, scandals and shock. I'm surprised we've made it out the other side in 1 piece!

I think the fairest thing would have been to out right ignore the Belarus Jury (so there would have been results from 40 out of the 41 countries.)
Because WHATEVER other way you do it is going to change the way the results land and be inconsistent with entire competition's voting system.

It was lowkey iconic (in a way we shouldn't promote but still) how the EBU gave out comfort points to the bottom

They apparenlty gave the points to the 10 songs that scored the worst with the other juries from Belarus pot (:az: :am: :ge: :ru:).

This doesn't make any sense lmao probably some sort of punishment

Omg that is hilarious lmao. We love about people like Lina Hedlund but EBU doesnt eben get it right themselves haha

Grand Final results with legitimate Belarussian backup vote

4th Switzerland 364
5th Sweden 334 +1
6th Norway 331 -1
7th North Macedonia 305 +1
8th Azerbaijan 302 -1
9th Australia 284
10th Iceland 232
11th Czechia 157
12th Denmark 120
13th Cyprus 109 +2
14th Malta 107 +2
15th Slovenia 105 -2
16th France 105 -2
17th Albania 90 +1
18th Serbia 89 -1
19th San Marino 77 +1

Well we should take into account how the jury of Belarus voted in the first semi-final:

So I guess we can assume they would've rewarded Estonia, Australia, Czech Republic and maybe Greece in the finale. Based on their semi-final 1 votes and the jury votes from the Belarus jury pot I think their real jury vote would've been:

12 points Russia
10 points North Macedonia
8 points Estonia
7 points Malta
6 points Australia
5 points Italy
4 points The Netherlands
3 points Czech Republic
2 points Greece
1 point Sweden

We can't assume they would've given Cyprus 10 points in the finale since they only gave them 4 in the semi-final

Your real jury vote version misses Azerbaijan. And the backup votes should have been in place, but the bottom 10 were applied for no reason.

Oh yeah I forgot about Azerbaijan. Is that the system they use for San Marino to get out a televoting score?

One could argue they did the bottom 10 as the top 10 was so close they didn't want it to potentially sway the results. Remember, at this point the televote was unknown. Only Australia from that did anything super well in the juries.

That's quite true. I think it's rather smart to do this. Because at the end of the day, getting a no. 10 place and no. 26 place makes no difference as the results are basically used to crown the winner. So in order not to impact the top 10 results where this year's results are so neck-to-neck, I believe the best way is to give the bottom 10 entries.

I think the fairest thing would have been to out right ignore the Belarus Jury (so there would have been results from 40 out of the 41 countries.)

That would be the best way to do it to be honest.
