yeah, for sure. I think there were 3 key factors which made this victory possible 1. Hype before the shows (remember, nobody knew he came 5th in the semi, ppl speculated about his potential winning of the semi) 2. A good position given by producers (9th is a position for winners and yeah he was sandwitched between the songs which made him stand out, i still assume if it wasn't for Israel producers would never push JJ thaaaat much into winning, and yeah they pushed it with supporting the hype it had). 3. ESC anniversary. It should be a year in a country which may host and spend money. Austria hosted anniversary in 2015 and did a great job, so....

Lol. Sorry, but you should realize yourself what a mess of nonsense this is if you look at the whole picture. Austria did not have the most hype nor did he have such a great RO. The pimp slots went to Sweden and France, and some degree Finland and Netherlands. And I'd argue if there was some "we need to push another country because of Israel", the easiest one to push was Sweden. Or France, especially given the fact that France really wants to win (and I guess to host), while Austria stumbled into this and already said they will have trouble financing this - so your third point is also BS 🤷‍♀️

According to ORF insider information, the Swiss broadcaster spent 60 million euros on this Eurovision. They’ll never admit it.

Hazel about the Swiss during the show "We don't have feelings. We have money"

Everything here is quite nonsense.

The true figures - never admitted - of Austria's ESC in 2015: 38 million euros.

And if this goes down as an unmemorable ESC winner... so what? He won't be the only one. Germany's Eurovision shows are still circling around the same things every year: Abba, Johnny Logan, Euphoria, Lordi, Lena, Conchita. The rest more or less forgotten and yet they all deserved it in their respective years

I personally don't like the song very much but I will always remember one moment from the winner reprise, how such an breathtaking opera voice comes out of a cute, small like JJ. He's the first opera singer to win Eurovision I believe? That's cool!

The only thing that bothers me slightly is that the Tattoo-The Code-Wasted Love run is so similarish. Before anyone comes at me, I'm not saying this is a Nemo rip off lol but when I imagine myself watching this Eurovision winner recap next year, I imagine it all blends together a bit. I usually prefer it when Eurovision has these wild swings, going from Lordi to Molitva, Sobral to Netta or Arcade to Maneskin.

But, to JJ's point: no uptempo has totally convinced me this year. The best one for me was Germany and Germany was never in contention for a win. There were some ballads, but no one of them sceamed victory to me.

I agree, Nemo's and JJ's are quite similarly coded - pardon my pun - so I would have preferred it if such a song won next year than this one, but I'm totally fine with it as a winner. The whole package is polished and well-performed, I don't think it will be remember down the line but indeed, who cares. Plenty of them aren't anyway. I just hope though that countries won't start all going down that route.
I just wish it had been slightly higher in the televote, it always sits better when the public choice aligns with the jury's.

He will be a superstar at least in his field. Countertenors are wanted worldwide in opera houses. They are the new superstars at opera. They are rare, especially when the can sing as high as JJ can. He sings higher than a ",usual" countertenor. I can't wait to see when opera directors come to the idea of casting gender neutral. The Queen of the Night sung by JJ. Quite a spectacle.

I think Andi Knoll - Zoe - Cesar Sampson - Conchita Wurst would be an awesome host combination.

But seems like JJ is interested in hosting too!

I don’t see any other venue than Stadthalle in Vienna. Graz and Innsbruck don’t have big enough venues I’m afraid.

It’s a pitty that the new arena in Vienna isn’t built yet. We have to win again in like 5 years to have the contest there haha.

An idea for the interval act: Cesar Sampson could perform the Inspector Rex theme song together with his mother who originally sang it for the TV show in the 90s. I mean it was a huge success all over Europe… Rex is even giving a comeback with new episodes next year. Unfortunately no animals are allowed on the stage. Maybe virtual dogs? And some sausage rolls on the LED screens hahaha

I hope I can sell this great idea to ORF hahaha

Mayors of cities that reported overnight: Graz, Innsbruck, and Wels.
Wels is currently building a 10,000 m² hall.
Wels is the only city without a debt but a surplus.

The only venue that might be just big enough besides Vienna is in Innsbruck but the hotel situation in Innsbruck is not that good… I don’t think that there would be enough accommodations…

lol and Wels, no

Well we had worse winners definitely. We could have the worst winner though, so I guess thanks JJ 😂

But Innsbruck has some very close tourism resorts which have a lot of empty beds in May.
