In the norwegian NRK preview show yesterday Sweden was given really high marks by the "expert"-panel. But lower by the 4 Euro-fans...Still ended on top in the first program.

the success of this with the juries reads very much as "this is what young people like, right? right???". i'm sorry but i'm young and i do not enjoy a beige crayon in a suit on a treadmill.

Best shade of all time. Condragulations. I bow down to thee, truth speaker. I'm still only 20.. something and don't find myself getting into beige crayons wearing suits, exercising and such whilst having a little swear. I hope the jury support the rainbow sponges of San Marino, singing their hip, youthful and on-point dance jam for the children of our generation, "Spirit of the Night".

Not surprised at all, since on NRKs official forum for MGP, there is one thread every year with the name: "We who hates on the Swedish entry" which many of these fans is writing in

Don´t take any offence of this Viking, you are not like them at all. By the way, I began to laugh hard when these 4 euro-fans gave high marks to :fr: because it was so expected since it has been hyped as hell among the hardcore-fans

I'm rather old (if you consider almost 40 as old) and I, on the other hand, do enjoy this very much!

I'm definitely voting for Sweden, given it qualifies.

No offence taken. But this year I definitely agree more with the fans in the sofa than with the "experts". My number one is France (from the first listening), and Sweden would be on the right side of my scoreboard - but that doesnt mean that I am hating on the swedish entry.

This entry is so bland that I can't figure out why a lot of people are actually thinking that's gonna do well. :?

Apart from the fact it comes from a popular nation (which is an asset, let's be honest), I guess the presentation might (once again) take the song farther than it deserves to imo. Provided that you have an easy-listening familiar-sounding song, it seems relatively easy to fool a certain part of the viewers with an elaborate staging. As one of the few uptempo songs in a ballad-filled semi, people will probably get behind it regardless of how basic it is.

That's what I was criticizing about Melfest weeks ago: acts put more effort into presentation than music these days, which leads to visually-entertaining shows with limited musical value. Still there were a handful of better options than Robin this year imo, I have no idea what juries saw in this tbh.

Hugely related to the performance of Tolmachevy Sisters tbh.

It's a catchy song with a memorable refrain and an interesting and snappy presentation. Doesn't matter that it's quite generic and the lyrics aren't great, that didn't stop :se: 2011, :se: 2015, :ru: 2016

This entry isn't as stunning as those songs above.

The only thing I'm f***ing, is stupid
On the bright side, Sweden's current formula succeeds for not being too repetitive (for the most part).
For example, Euphoria was not the same as Undo, but still retain the swedish flavors that will be recognizable to many.

To improve from Robin song-wise and still use this formula is possible.
Next year maybe we will get something better and something to be proud of. Who knows, Nano may come back and win with a masterfully crafted, but still innovative song. The performence may also be a jaw dropper and Nano will be the obvious esc-winner next year as much as Loreen was. Even the sweden-haters will like this.

Even a general swedish esc-fan can dream up the perfect scenario were Sweden regain its glory reputation among hardcore fans.

The perfect example for me is Ukraine 2011 (Mika Newton's "Angels"): an ok-ish song (well performed I admit) that becomes totally secondary due to an attention-drawing staging and thus succeeds in reaching a high placing.

This is the entry, about which I should've thought.

Controversial opinion perhaps but I much prefer Sweden 2017 to Sweden 2015......Heroes was such a bore of a song.

After some searches, I can say that Robin is doing very well on polls, odds so far, he is not doing too well or not too bad, and I guess it will be the same in the real Contest, he will score decent among both the viewers and juries and will probably finish anywere from 4th-10th. That is the feeling right now

idk i don't think there is anything wrong with padding out a song with big staging. i loved angels AND heroes, i think azerbaijan mostly deserved their early success, etc. this one, though? even the performance is boring. treadmills and a stupid emoji do not a good gimmick make, and the annoying song and robin's unseasoned brown rice of a personality do not help matters at all.

with that said it's such a typical entry in such an atypical year that i've made peace with the fact it's probably going to be another top 10 for sweden.

3rd in the odds, and fan polls are meaningless. Sweden are still potential winners. I'll eat my hat if it isn't top 5.
