Big news coming to us today from Serbia.

Namely, Olivera Kovačević, who has been the Director of the Entertainment Program of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS) for the past two terms, is no longer eligible for that position.

At today’s meeting of the Board of Directors of Radio and Television of Serbia, the main editor of the entertainment program will be Sandra Perović, as the replacement for Olivera Kovačević.

Why is this curious in regards to Eurovision?

Olivera Kovačević is a familiar name in the Eurovision bubble for her outstanding revival of Pesma za Evroviziju (formerly Beovizija), the Serbian national selection for this country’s representative in the Eurovision Song Contest.

“My second term as editor-in-chief of the RTS entertainment program has ended. I was very happy with the news that the editor in chief will be Sandra Perović.” Olivera stated for Republika.

So who is Sandra Perović, Olivera’s successor?

Sandra Perović is a well-known film critic, journalist and presenter from Serbia. She graduated from law school Belgrade. She is also the television author of specialized shows about the film “The Great Illusion”, Chronicles of FEST, and many others.

Interestingly, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), an association of foreign journalists accredited in Hollywood, selected Sandra two months ago as a new voter for the prestigious Golden Globe award. Sandra thus became the only voter from Serbia at this prestigious event.

Sounds exciting! Seems like we will wait with a baited breath for what’s in store for PZE moving forward. Major gratitude goes out to Olivera Kovačević and her fantastic work so far, and congratulations to Sandra Perović – we are excited to see what lies ahead!
