Serbian broadcaster RTS just announced that Serbia will not be taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

After several days of negotiations and discussions, it was decided that due to the financial situation and the lack of sponsorship Serbia would be taking a break from the contest.  This is the first time that the country decided to sit out since they debuted (and also won) the contest in 2007. The broadcaster is not ruling out a return in 2015.

Serbia is joining Cyprus and Croatia who also withdrew from the contest due to budgeting which has become a more significant hurdle for many broadcasters over the past few years.

Moje 3 represented Serbia last year in Malmo failing to reach the Finals.
