According to an internal EBU source, the Portuguese broadcaster has still got the chance to negotiate their participation in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. This can be made by reducing the Portuguese channel’s yearly budget in order to reduce RTP’s financial burden. The same source has also advanced that until now no official withdrawals have been announced
Countries are still allowed to withdraw until the 15[SUP]th[/SUP] of December.
Portugal has been taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1964 and has missed only three contests since then (1970, 2000 and 2002).
