HaKokhav HaBa (“The Next Star”) is over and we have a winner. The competition, which started 9 December 2014, came to a close and sixteen year old Nadav Guedi finished first. That means he is going to represent Israel at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria.

Broadcaster IBA tried a different approach after years of bad results. They tried everything, from Internal Selection to Kdam, however nothing seemed to work. The last time Israel qualified from a Semifinal was in 2010. So half a decade later, “The Next Star” will be the new project that will hopefully take Israel back to the Finals.

The result of the show was decided by the viewers using a special app and the program’s celebrity judges with Nadav beating Iki Levy & The Rasta Hebrew Man.

The four finalists were

  • Sary Nachmias
  • Avia Shoshani
  • Nadav Guedj
  • Iki Levy & The Rasta Hebrew Men

An expert committee will select the song for Nadav in due time.

You can listen to one of his songs below and be sure to check out his YouTube channel.

Israel will take part in the second half of the Second Semi-Final of the 2015. What do you think of this choice? Post your comments below and join the conversation HERE.
