It’s been quite busy in Luxembourg here the past week, since the Luxembourgish broadcaster (RTL) could announce several details regarding their upcoming national final. Earlier today, we even got some very decisive news, which was regarding who the finalists for the upcoming national will final, will be.
Luxembourg Song Contest 2026
Luxembourg made their grand return to the song contest, after a more than a 30 year long break, back in 2024. Since then, the nation has held a national final in order to select their representative ever since, and that will also be the case in 2026.
Last week, the broadcaster could announce that a total of 83 songs had been submitted, with a total of 58 artists showing interest in participating in the national final. Taking into the country’s small size and population, the country has to improvise when it comes to how they can hold their national final, which only allows artists that hold strong ties to the small country.
That’s why this past weekend, a closed audition stage was held, and an international jury would select the best options for the upcoming national final. The jury consisted of the following 5 members:
- Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal – 🇫🇷 France: Songwriter & Musical theater producer
- GÃsli Berg – 🇮🇸 Iceland: Executive- & Söngvakeppnin Producer
- Karin Gunnarsson – 🇸🇪 Sweden: Contest- & Melodifestivalen Producer
- Paul Jordan – 🇬🇧 United Kingdom: ESC Expert and Commentator
- Elsie Bay – 🇳🇴 Norway: Artist & Songwriter
The Luxembourgish broadcaster did also share a few clips and pictures from the auditions as well, over the weekend.
Now, only 8 artist are left standing and with a shot at representing Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest, which will in 2026 be held in Vienna, Austria.
Earlier today, it was announced that these would be the 8 acts, that will now compete in the national final, which will take place on the 24th of January 2026: (alphabetical order)
- Andrew The Martian
- Daryss
- Eva Marija
- Hugo One
- Irem
- Luzac
- Steve Castile
- ShiroKuro
It was announced that during the audition phase, some past participants of the Luxembourgish national final did take part once more, but only one of them managed to qualify, that being Luzac who participated in 2025, but ultimately could only gather enough points to a overall 3rd place with the song “Je Danse”
As of now, song titles nor songs have been released yet, but are expected to be released prior to the national final, which has been the case in the past two years as well.
The national final is set to also once again, be held at the “Rockhal” venue in the border city of Esch-sur-Alzette.
