Latvian broadcaster LTV has allegedly confirmed to esctoday.com that it is likely to be taking part next year in Vienna, in spite of the fact Latvia has not made an appearance in the Eurovision final since Pirates of the Sea in 2008.

Of course, official confirmation from the broadcaster still awaits and it is not yet certain how a Latvian representative for 2015 would be selected but this will be good news for Eurofans worried about the contest’s unluckiest nation. It seems likely that another edition of Eurodziesma would take place in the event of a Latvian confirmation.

Latvia has taken part in the contest every year since 2000, with their first win occuring in 2002. Despite this early success, Latvia has been unlucky of late and has failed to qualify since 2008, including three last places in the semi-finals. The Baltic country was represented in 2014 by Aarzemnieki with “Cake to Bake”, finishing 13th in the semi-final.
