In a surprising turn of events, an extra song has qualified to Latvia’s Supernova final, after it was confirmed that there was a technical failure in the counting of the votes!

Latvia’s national broadcaster LTV has been forced to make the admission that it should have been Markus Riva with “This Time” who qualified for the Supernova final in the place of Ritvars’ now ironically-titled “Who’s Counting?”. It was revealed that votes made on the online platform for Riga Reggae were added to those of RITVARS. Online voting, jury voting, Spotify streams and televoting are all taken into consideration when deciding the results of Latvia’s selection.

Following the cancellation of the online vote, it would instead have been Markus Riva who qualified in second place. As a result, both artists will take part in the Supernova final on February 24th alongside the semi-final winner Madara.

The current finalists in Supernova 2018 are;

  • Edgars Kreilis – Younger Days
  • Liene Griefāne – Walk The Talk
  • Madara – Esamība
  • Markus Riva – This Time
  • Ritvars – Who’s Counting?

Two more acts are expected to join these finalists when Saturday’s third and final semi-final takes place.
