The decision regarding participation in the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest has been postponed, according to the Icelandic broadcaster RÚV. The broadcaster initially claimed that it would announce it’s participation decision on September 5th.

Iceland’s Head of Delegation, Rúnar Freyr, cited additional meetings between various countries’ representatives and the EBU as the cause for the delay. In a statement to Icelandic media, Freyr affirmed that a decision will be made before the September 15 deadline:

“We are still reviewing the issues, including at a meeting attended by our representatives and those of the other nations with Eurovision representatives after the weekend. The deadline to confirm participation in Eurovision expires on September 15. We will announce our decision before that time.”

As of today, the Icelandic broadcaster still has not announced if they will compete in Basel.
