Fyr & Flamme, the newly-crowned Danish representatives at Eurovision 2021, have confirmed that their song “Øve os på hinanden” will stay in Danish for the contest in Rotterdam – marking the first Danish language entry for the country in 24 years.

The duo confirmed the news in post-DMGP reaction to the Danish broadcaster DR, with band member Jesper Groth telling the broadcaster “It is a song made according to some Scandinavian traditions. I can not imagine at all how we should be able to translate it, so we stick to Danish.”

The last entry for Denmark to be sung entirely in Danish at Eurovision is their 1997 entry “Stemmen i mit liv”, although phrases in the language appeared as recently as 2019 when Leonora’s “Love is Forever” also encompassed English, French and German in her performance.
