When we look back on this Eurovision season, which countries do you think got their selections right, and which ones do you think got them wrong?

I don't know many alternatives of the NF!

:de: I think we did it right, though 18th place isn't very good it could become more embarassing with some of those popular artists.
:ch: did it absolutely right! I saw the NF on TV and thought, all songs were boring, and Sebalters performance there was really bad, but they chose the best entry they could and their comeback to the final is well deserved
:sm: Though Valentina is not my favourite singer and I think Ralph Siegel still stuck in the 80's it was the right decision to try it a 3rd time

I think Lithuania had an okay entry but their selection format was just plain wrong.

Latvia too needs to rethink their whole selection format to attract more quality.

Estonia had nine better songs in Eesti Laul final, yet the worst one won.

Netherlands finally found a right way to select their entries since last year, without a National Final. That's the spirit. I hope Latvia also does the same thing soon. Because I don't really trust in national finals. Singers may feel stressed or under pressure to impress viewers to get attention. But they, surely, can be more original without such a thing.

I think that :lt: was the most wrong. The selection was absoutely boring and it didn't help anywhere xshrug
Then if :lv: continues with this NF they will fail and fail again

The countries that didn't make a NF but let the chanel chose turn out into victories (Austria,Netherlands,Russia,Poland,San Marino,Montenegro and with victory I mean what victory could mean for each country).

Even though I think Ace Wilder had the best song/performance in :se: I am still really happy that Sanna Nielsen won, no other finalist would have reached a top 3 result.
I think :ee:  and :dk: all made wrong decisions. It should have been Sandra Nurmusalu, Mo and Michael Rune feat Natascha Bessez, all of these entries would have really given something to the show, especially :dk:

I didnt really follow the Estonian NF but I can't imagine any other song being worse than what they actually sent.

I agree that Michael Rune feat Natascha Bessez should have won in :dk:, it would have achieved a top 5 placing

Totally agree with Estonia, but hell no about Norway, none of the other acts would've come close to 8th, Mo's song was basically Stay Part 2 and would've flopped just as badly

I also agree with :ee:.
:be: made the right choice at the time, but subjectively I would have liked anything else.
:de: had a good basic set-up but in the end the face-off between two artists was wrong: You could vote heavily against one instead of voting for the best. It would have been better to have all songs performed, then eliminate one song from each artist, and then out of this pool announce the winner. (Or something like this)
:se: definitely made the right choice (I simply disliked Ace Wilder's song)

I haven't heard any of the other songs in :ee: NF, but I think they made a fine choice with Amazing. The problem was that they failed to present it well at ESC. Don't forget it missed the final by just a few points. And its downfall was with the televotes. IMO, that could have been avoided with a good, energetic, bombastic performance.

:by: Made a right choice. I remember it was actually my favourite song in their NF and 16th place is nice for them.
:lv: Made a wrong choice like always.
:ee: We made a right choice, sooner or later we had to send something like this (to not repeat mistakes) and we didn't have any contender in EL anyway. I still can't understand: a huge stage, millions of possibilities, and we turned this to a basic dance studio with parquet floor. xcrazy
:lt: Okay choice
:ua: When ''Tick-Tock'' won Ukrainian NF, I thought that they will not qualify  But staging and revamp makes miracles (like always with Ukraine). Right choice.

Just one word: Germany. Even though the outcome was okay, there were so many better possible choices.

The Ace Wilder injustice of course.

The others did well enough for me to not care about.

"Busy doin' nothin'" was good but it wouldn't have been even close to Sanna's result.

It feels like :ee: made a lacking performance, I was expecting something really energic and powerfull but it was pretty much just dancing for 3 minutes.

Although I love the part where they are laying on the floor in the beginning of the song and looking at each other xheart

I do wonder what would happen if Norway went with "High Hopes" hmm
I disagree about the Tooji part, it would probably not do great in the final but Mo seemed quite professional in his performance unlike Tooji's performances. :S

in retrospective perhaps France could've avoided last place with the girl in their NF?

Why does no one care about :is:?
Iceland did relatively well in Copenhagen, their best result since 2009 (I think)
But honestly, I think that Sigga should have won Songvakeppnin.
"Up And Away" is infinitely better than "No Prejudice".
The rule of the NF was that the artists which made it to the final in it (Sigga and Pollaponk) had to perform the song in the language that it would be performed in in Copenhagen. No Prejudice was performed in Icelandic, which is most likely why the viewers voted for it to win. Sigga performed her song in English, which ultimately caused her to lose. However, Pollaponk performed in English in Copenhagen!
That's just plain wrong. Not only was the wrong song chosen, but they breached the NF rules!

It's not about a good result, it's about Sweden finally, finally sending a slightly more original song than what they've chosen in the past few years. Just look at how imaginative Popular, This Is my Life or You-uuh-oouh were

Sweden could have sent such an un-Swedish entry (in relation to what we usually get from them), but instead we ended up with another narcotizing power ballad that was clearly made for the jury. They almost fell for it
