True that, I forgot about them but I believe it was 100% jury vote if I'm not mistaken???
Wikipedia cites a dead link (because it's on ESCToday) that states that the United Kingdom got Nul Points from the Irish televote as well.

Eurovision 2003 was just 8 weeks after the invasion of Iraq and that was pretty unpopular in Ireland so that explains the lack of points from them that year ;).
The United Kingdom's 'friendly' votes have definitely gone down since the Juries came in. It is a shame that the same cant be said for other countries who have 'friends'.

1) I highly doubt that's why. Jemini were out of tune... constantly. And the song wasn't good either. Would you have given it any points?
2) The United Kingdom's "friendly" votes have not gone down since the introduction of the juries. The juries were re-introduced in 2009. In that year, among the Top 5 (6 since Belgium and France are currently tied) countries which have given the U.K. points since 1975, Ireland gave you 10 (their 12er went to Norway), [Austria didn't participate], Portugal gave you 10 points (their 12er went to Norway), Germany gave you 8 points (their 10 went to Turkey, their biggest diaspora voters and their 12:er went to Norway) and France gave you 4 points (Belgium gave you 0). In 2010, you sent a **** song with an even shittier singer, so let's not talk any more about that. In 2011, the reason why you guys received so few points from your neighbours was because the juries placed you at a mere 22nd place (you were 5th in the televotes), not because of any resentment of your country but because they disliked your song (or probably rather simply the genre of your song). In 2012, you sent a has-been with a boring song in a final full of much better ballads.

The Iraq factor was the reason for nul points in 2003, all of Europe hated us. Like you say it was out-of-tune, it wouldn't have done well in any case, but I very much doubt the United Kingdom would ever have got zero, especially from Ireland, if it hadn't have been for the war. As for my opinion on the song, that's a different issue but I happen to think the position was very undeserving for us - it was still a good track and there have been many worse & out-of-tune that haven't got nul, or even done well!
Regardless of what the songs were like Ireland would have given us much larger points than they have 50/50. I would guess 2009 12, 2010 7/8, 2011 10/12, 2012 8.

7/8 points in 2010, really? Ireland seems much less preoccupied with giving the U.K. free points than you seem to believe. They gave you guys 8 points in 2008 and 7 in 2007 and at least those songs weren't performed by Jemini 2.0 Solo Version.

Also, without the 50/50 system, you guys would've received even less points in 2009. The juries gave her significantly more points than the televoters. It is likely they gave her more points than the televoters. They probably gave you 12 in 2011 going by televotes alone, though.

^ They are, because of the Juries. Before the Juries, it was 8 in 2006, 7 in 2007, 8 in 2008...
And they gave you 10 in 2009. I daresay that number would've been lower had the juries not been there. Also, that's hardly something to be proud of, an alleged automatic 7-8 point swap with Ireland each year.

We would of got 12 from them in 2009 if it had not been for the Juries - the Juries will have been the ones voting more for Iceland. Id imagine that the Televote went something like 8 Norway 10 Iceland 12 United Kingdom, and the Juryvote will have gone 8 United Kingdom 10 Norway 12 Iceland, so Iceland just snatched it from us.
And Im not going in to the right's/wrong's, etc, of us voting for each other. But the fact is that that the Jury's have stopped them giving us anything more than a low amount of points automatically. It is a shame that the Jury's have not had the same affect on other countries voting patterns.

^ Why do you keep on speculating about 2009 televoting results? Numbers are known and the UK got 10 from Ireland.

It is a decent song, but he was so forgettable during the contest that I actually did feel bad for him when he was 2nd to last. I actually did like their entry in 2009. Sure the song is mediocre at best, but she really did a fantastic job performing it. If it wasn't for Norway literally crushing the competition, it would have been much better. Heck, it probably would have won in 2010 or 2011. The BBC do need to stop focusing in the past. The UK has so much talent and can win it if they work hard enough!
