all artists that may represent Ukraine in 2022:
  1. Tayanna (expressed interest) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENUYpbaL77o
  2. Max Barskih (expressed interest) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buQkpHOAsDk
  3. alyona alyona (said maybe but quite unlikely) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpeAKYIIEQY
  4. vilna (expressed strong interest) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhgcPsyYABc
  5. kazaky (liked comments on youtube about them going to esc and even commenting on them with ";)") - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rTjGEABva0
  6. Alina Pash (heavily rumoured and I also believed she stated one time in the past she wants to do it) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFFCbN49jG0

who do you want to see the most out these?

I personally would be fine with any of them but my faves are: Tayanna, Max, Kazaky and Alina!

1. Tayanna - I think she'd be the strongest card for Ukraine (given the entry is good of course), I think Ukraine often sends stuff the public will like, but to get the juries fully onboard as well they need a big vocalist and Tayanna fills those shoes.

2. Max Barskih - I think he is way too involved in Russia, I don't doubt the material would be good though and he is a good performer, vocally he isn't strong however and I don't see the juries being too happy about that.

3. alyona alyona - Has potential, but as discussed in the thread rap is really a risky card, potential jury flop?

4. vilna - Potentially good, but not a strong card, of course depending on entry.

5. kazaky - trash

6. Alina Pash - Kinda the same scenario as with alyona alyona, however Alina is actually a good vocalist too so if there would be more emphasis on singing than rapping then she'd be a hot candidate (again depending on the entry of course).

1.She will win Vidbir only if producers cancel the televote or she brings something on the same level as 1944/Helpless because general public simply doesn’t like nor care about her music, no matter how much money Yasynsky throws in her promo, and even if she somehow wins the nationalists might throw a fit, just like in 2019 when the fact that Anna-Maria parents work at occupational government came to light. Exclaiming:How can we send a person whose brother entertains the occupants?
2.Breaks no concerts in Russia rule.
3.Only as a lyricist for MamaRika(Vidbir 2017) please, Alyona wrote Prolisky and HHDD among other tracks for her, Alyona will gain very little from winning Vidbir and lots of hate if she flops plus going from ESC 2021 judge to Vidbir participant will be a huge step down for her imho.
4.For the next few years everyone with ethno influenced songs will be compared to Go_Icons and it will be insanely hard to top Kateryna&Co in the genre, especially with bad attempts at ethno hating Danylko in the jury panel.
5. We sent Maruv with a track in a similar style in 2019 and everyone remembers how it all ended.
6.Alyona Alyona said In one of her interviews that she and Alina originally Intended for Padlo to be their Vidbir 2019 entry, hence why the studio version is 2:36 long, but Alyona chickened out at the last minute. Alina was in PBC’s Junior Vidbir jury last year and I won’t be surprised if she gets invited to the Vidbir 2022 lineup next.

+ they indeed think about taking part. If they won't break up until next year lol. If Tina stays in the jury, they've got great chances imo.
I'm wondering about their live vocals tho  And the new material.

I don't think Tayanna would catch heat for her brother. The situation with Anna Maria was a bit different. Aside from their parents being traitors and working in high positions in the Russia government, the girls refused to acknowledge it, the Russian war, the annexation of Crimea, etc. They basically try to play both sides. I don't think there's ever been any question about Tayanna's loyalty to Ukraine. She can't be made to answer for her brother.

I dunno about her brother, but yeah making her guilty by association is just weird.

Also what is this thing about no one liking her? Except for maybe alyona alyona, she's the most successful act out of the rumored ones (I don't count Max here as he basically made himself a Russian artist).

^She "flopped" with televote both times in Vidbir.
I mean she was third both times and competed with male acts that had a legion of tween/teen girls ready to vote no matter what... with such competition there will always be an uphill battle for female acts.

Still those acts flopped in ESC which I guess is the irony of it all. I think the perception of ESC changed since and the fact that those tween/teen girls favs flopped, resulted in a change of voting patterns in the following Vidbirs.

Local fame mean nothing in the end of the day, Go_A is still a fresh name even in Ukraine and faired better than the "popular act of the moment" such as Melovin.

Tayanna had one of the biggest PR agencies, half of our show biz rooting and the jury overrating her(especially in 2017) and yet she finished only third in the televote, while finishing dead last in Dancing with the stars without all that PR support because nobody outside Eurovision bubble actually likes her.
Go_A had an uphill battle being no names fighting against teen girls voting for KHAYAT no matter what, Tina Karol (KHAYAT’s coach from The Voice) and folk hating Danylko in the jury panel plus the general public thinking that Ukrainian language won’t succeed at ESC, hell even Kateryna herself named KHAYAT as her favorite in one of the interviews before the Vidbir final. But they came and slayed everyone against all the odds , and now all those people who were saying that we should sing only in English to succeed have to live with Go_Icons in the top TWO with the televote and top nine with the jury.

^ Go_A had the same backing vocalists with Khayat, from a folk band.

Those who know Tina also know that she's particularly harsh/demanding against her favorites. Didn't she give Khayat 3 points?
Axelrod's wife basically sent her to Eurovision in 2006, but she gave him 4 pts only (the wife was furious after that btw, lol).

Rewatch Vidbir 2020 final Prytula said that she gave KHAYAT 1 point more than the other judges (5) while Danylko and Drozdov were predictably pulling KRUTЬ more as a suck up to their pal Ponomarev who stood in her shadow. That’s how she won the jury in her semi and got five points from them in the final despite flopping vocals twice.

PR machine doesn't mean anything (hello Malta!) so I don't get the argument? The legion of teens/tween girls voting for their "idols" is still more impactful, especially if there aren't that many televoters to begin with (which is the case in Vidbir).

Just a reminder, Tayanna's second entry was also fully in Ukrainian and even if the juries ended up putting "Leyla" at top (as they should have), they also basically said that she should translate it to English (idiotic comments but yeah).

Who cares about "Dancing with the stars"? It's a trash show for stupid people (no offense to anyone liking it, just telling how it is). In the end this is a song contest, Tayanna would fair well in Eurovision with the right song, it doesn't matter if people in Ukraine "like her or not" (apparently some people like her since she's still in the top. 3 with televoters and have some hits).

:D :D :D :D :D

If only I got a € every time I'd heard those exact words about Eurovision... ;)

I don't know about Ukraine, but people really do care about our version of Strictly here in :cz:. It gets 40-50% viewership (unlike Eurovision ;) ), actual stars, live orchestra, a top-notch moderator with usually well refined jokes, and generally has a very distinguished and expensive yet natural feel to it. It might be a cultural thing of course (most Czechs take dancing lessons during high school, it's basically one of our rites of passage to adulthood) and other versions might be more flashy and cheap, but still it's a show whose power I wouldn't underestimate anywhere in Europe...

Oh, I don't underestimate what the masses like, clearly there's a public for it, but to me it's a sad symbol of the times we live in.

Maybe in :cz: it's different, but here it's a bunch of has-beens and b-celebrities that clearly struggle with their careers and the public like sheep like to see what these people are up to...

But hey, I am not going to be judgemental (even if I was ), whatever floats one's boat.

But the original comment was that Europe doesn't really care if someone is popular or not in their home country, so the argument against Tayanna as far as Eurovision goes is illogical to me. Yes, I admit that a popular acts might help boost the local interest for the contest, which is good I guess, but it's not a guarantee for success in the contest. We could see that with Melovin for instance, I'm still certain Tayanna would have faired much better in ESC in particular with the juries.

Wow, so much BS I'm reading against a singer who would've easily given two Top 10 placements in both ESC 2017 and 2018 to Ukraine, but instead this country chose some no hopers. But if Tayanna had been a guy, everything would've been ok, right?

And I get a serious Agnete/Greta Salóme vibe from her and won’t even be surprised if she repeats their 2016 fate when selected.

I love Tayanna - she won't win also probably not top 5 but she would still get a very decent result for Ukraine - top 15 is certain without a doubt. I love plenty of her songs... her latest EP was very good.

Can any Ukranian please explain why do not people like her? I really don't get it.
