My guess is that at this point the chances of Turkey returning anytime soon is slim to none based on what I'm witnessing.

So my prediction of how this will go:
June 2017 - Turkey is rumoured to take part again...
August 2017- Turkey will take part in ESC 2018, More news from TRT soon
September 2017 - TRT announces that they changed their mind as voting went unfair again and might not take part this time
October 2017 - Turkey won't take part in ESC 2018 though TRT mentions that there is a big chance of returning in 2019.
June 2018 - Turkey is rumoured to take part again in 2019

I don't think there is a chance of us returning with TRT at all. At this point TRT = Erdogan TV and I boycott it for example. The only possible way imo would be if another broadcaster took over like Fox TV or TV8. My personal pick would be Fox in this case... But I don't really know if such a thing is possible or how it would work if it was possible. Can anyone help me out in this subject? Is this possible?

I don't know what you mean with state channel? But I think it needs to have stuff like news and all... Fox has news too so I guess it would make them eligible? I'm not really sure . Let's hope someone else in the forum can help us out

No, private broadcasters can be EBU members aswell, they just have to be accepted and pay the fee and show EBU content aswell as follow the EBU rules for membership. For instance in Sweden, TV4 which is the biggest private broadcaster is an EBU member, for instance they took part in jESC in the past.

It seems that Turkey was all set to return in 2016. They had even selected Atiye has their representative. However TRT backed down in the last couple of months befored the deadline.
