There's fire in the rain
But we'll get up again
We're thousand miles apart
But we'll overcome

I'll never let you down
World is turning us around
But I feel it in my heart
Let's make a brand new start

Can't stop us now forget the haters
Get up and live and make it matter
There's more to life so go ahead and
sing it out

Can you hear
a million voices
Calling out
in the rain
You know we got
a million choices
So go get out
and let it rain

A million voices voices
A million voices voices
A million voices voices
A million voices

There's fire in the rain
And I can feel your pain
Painting all the scars in
The colors of change

Don't let them hold you down
Don't let them hold you down
Go shooting like a star
The star you are

Can't stop us now forget the haters
Get up and live and make it matter
There's more to life so go ahead and
sing it out

Can you hear
a million voices
Calling out
in the rain
You know we got
a million choices
So go get out
and let it rain

Can you hear them
A million voices voices
Can you hear them
A million voices voices
Can you hear them
A million voices voices
Can you hear them
A million voices

Can you hear them?
Can you hear them?

Can you hear
a million voices
Calling out
in the rain
You know we got
a million choices
So go get out
and let it rain

Can you hear them
A million voices voices
Can you hear them
A million voices voices
Can you hear them
A million voices voices
Can you hear them
A million voices

I mean, what's there to adjust? With consistently good entries the last decade, the only thing I feel needs a buff is the quality of the songs. I doubt Sweden will stop sending pop, but it has to be good at least.

Well, you mentioned quality as a good example of what needs to be "adjusted" for starters.

The problem is definitely not us sending Pop songs, we are a Pop producing nation after all, but like I said before the songs you have in MF are disconnected to how our actual music scene looks like and what's popular outside of MF, and the songwriters are pretty much "in-house", so fine it can be Pop but preferably a better reflection of our market.

I mean wouldn't that be more interesting to non-Swedes as well to hear "actual" Swedish products and not manufactured MF songs?

You mean a better variety of pop in the Swedish market, right?

Variety also, but more a better reflection of how it sounds like... most of the stuff in MF isn't really sounding like what's actually popular here in Sweden (from our local artists that is). While it may still be Pop (as a genre), MF lives in its own little bubble.

Is Swedish Top List a good indicator? (just minus the MF songs)

I mean, sounds good on paper, but are those songs not submitted for MF, or are they "declined" or not "deemed" good enough for the competition?

Well, during the MF season you will see an influx of MF entries there, but most of them tend to fall out quite fast when the season is off.

But yeah Sverigetopplistan is a quite good measurement, I'd also add Spotify's list of most streamed songs in Sweden...

However Digilistan sums up both streams/sales and radio play : https://sverigesradio.se/sida/topplista.aspx?programid=2697 , wheres the other two are only streams/sales or streams...

More like socialism but ok...
haha.. :ROFLMAO: The Oracle has spoken... Let's be aware... if you vote wrongly you are against A-lister and if you are against A-lister you are Socialists.... and on top of that, when you vote against A-lister you are totally wrong...hmmm....
I think A-lister is aspiring to be the next Mr. Björkman.
Oh my GOD this shit is really difficult. xyaayEntering A-listers world seems to be entering ... oh, I can't even spell it out loud.
I am so lucky to live in Sweden where I can vote the way I want to... BUT, can I in the future????:rolleyes::sick:

No one knows, there is no transparency really, but you can see these "in-house" songwriters popping up every year and putting any attempts at "diversity" in MF aside, there's a general "soundscape" going on for years now probably reflecting not just those songwriters but what the current MF team want to have there...

You said yourself you'll vote for a song that isn't even your favorite of the bunch, so that to me sounds more like falling under the spell of collectivism instead of follow your own taste... xshrug

I always support individualism, contrary to what you write here...

But I wouldn't mind to take Björkman's spot, and you would see how awesome MF would turn out xqueenbitch

Ofcourse you'd like to be in charge of it all.... That is the only thing you wanted for like 15 years now. But you are in the wrong place, Hunny. Nobody in SVT is here on this forum...sorry.... I know you wanted it really bad, but I also know that you can apply for it on Facebook. :D I wish you good luck! o_O

I don't see it being a huge issue that it's many times the same songwriters every year, because clearly the music they make end up being succesful in the competition and on the charts: it's what the public wants.

Also, it's not the full picture. RedOne once competed as a songwriter in 2011, the song failed to make it to the final. This year Dotter and her boyfriend wrote and produced her song: no one else was involved in the process and Dotter's boyfriend Dino is not some big name like Thomas G:Son. And if Thomas G:Son, the creator of Euphoria, wants to make Eurovision music then for God's sake let him!!!

As for the jury talk, let's not forget that there is already a jury who decides which 28 entries will compete, and that jury is not just made up of SVT workers but people who work in radio and music, the bigger stations even if I remember correctly

A party for the people, yet mostly made up by songs not written by the most successful songwriters and with acts that mostly aren't particularly popular with "the people"... to me MF seems more like a club and we "the people" are invited once a year to see what this club thinks music should sound like and showcase the exclusive club members' songs

I do however agree that we don't need semi juries, that's not what's going to "fix" this contest...

Well if you hate it so much then nothing is stopping you from watching, there are other NF's to watch. I think Melodifestivalen has had an incredibly broad array of music, it's actually become more diverse the last 5 years or so compared to the schlager years

I think this is the wrong approach tbh, not just buying what's sold to you or having a critical approach is not the same as "hating".

I think the diversity is very faux tbh, it seems like they are ticking some qoutas and in the end of the day most stuff sound like they had to be compromised to MF anyways xshrug

Yes it is an issue when it looks like some sort of corruption almost, and again it's an issue when the songs seem to have little in common with how the music scene actually looks like.

Yes, RedOne flopped (seems like they found some demo somewhere and went with that). Ok so G:Son did "Euphoria" and so what? It's one out of 100s of entries he sent to MF...

Yeah we can pretend...
