Well the same happened this year too! With Anna. She had prerecorded backing vocals in MF and in Eurovision sounded kinda bad... :?
Actually her voice was borderline even in MF as well tbh.

Edit : Am I the only one who though that the background singers sounded worse in eurovision as well?

Yep, that's the thing with the MF thing right now. Remember 2009? Malena used pre recorded background vocals and at ESC it just didn't sound right.
It gives the swedish people a wrong impression of a song as it sounds very different with live vocals.

Besides judging from the interest europe has gotten in Eric Saade just from him presenting our votes at the final he could very possibly have done better than Anna this year.
What magical interest that Europe has allegedly gotten for him are you speaking of? Any sources?

Why we allow pre-recorded backing vocals and 8 people on stage is beyond me. It's basically allowing people to compete with entries we know for certain they will not be allowed to keep as they are if they win. Basically, it allows people to create a better stage show in Melodifestivalen than they ever will be able to at Eurovision and it's down-right stupid.

If their backup singers suck, so be it. If their stage show can't be spectacular with only 6 people on stage, so be it. Don't give us something you know we won't be able to send to Eurovision!

I remember reading it on the online version of Aftonbladet, even however little it was it sure was more than Anna managed to get.

I do agree with you that those extra rules should be removed since it creates false impressions all around.

It's Aftonbladet! If, like, two random people interviewed on the street in Tirana say something along the lines of "I liked that Swedish guy. He was cute.", they'll distort it into something like "Many viewers interested in Eric Saade after he presented Sweden's votes!". I mean, come on!

What would their interest be, really? He didn't even sing during his presentation of the votes so all the viewers got was some kind of jailbaity Jonas Brothery-looking babyfaced man. So they're interested in him doing what, modeling? Pornography? What possible interest could his brief televised appearance have generated for him from the greater Europe?!

Also, I read every single article in Entertainment on Aftonbladet (and Expressen) the two days immediately following Eurovision 2010 and I didn't see a single article even mention Saade. So this magical interest must've sprung up, like, half a week or so after the contest or something.

Actually, that's what I'm talking about. Her backing vocalists in ESC. ;) Because in Melodifestivalen the backing vocals was pre-recorded.

they should get rid of the prerecorded backing vocals. i bet almost every entry in this years mf would sound bad without them...

Not all, but it would show alot more clearly who can perform the song the best vocaly on the eurovision stage.

Dolph Lundgren, the world-famous Hollywood actor, talked about his fight with stereotypes and explained how the 2010 edition of the Swedish national selection for Europe's favourite TV-show changed it all.

"Big, dumb, blond Swede, that's been the stigma I've had for 25 years, especially in Sweden - there, they are even more upset that I didn't do any [Ingmar] Bergman movies and just went to Hollywood and started killing people," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

But this year, things changed when he was one of the hosts of the Swedish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Namely, as he points out, the show performance he gave there with Elvis Priestley's undying hit A Little Less Conversation, changed perceptions of him being just an action film actor.

"People saw me as who I am and realised that maybe I'm not so stupid after all," Lundgren added.

Now, the actor with a Master's degree in chemical engineering and fluent in seven languages, has got a boost to his career by starring in the motion picture The Expendables together with Sylvester Stallone and Jet Li.

No, I think it was well deserved result. This song doesn't feel anything special, kinda boring. Amount all Semi Final 2 failures, only Croatia was worse than Sweden imo. But of course all the discussion is about personal tastes, nothing to accept as gospel. Still, since Sweden was 9th in televoting, viewers wanted likely to make it qualify.

Well I find it one of Sweden's essential entries. So relatable and heart-warming.

Deserved to qualify. But she had 62 Points in 18 Votes, which is an average from 3.5 Points per Country. Normally this is enough, but the midfield was very close so she had bad luck.

Sweden really dropped the ball on the glowsticks BTW. Why did they have them light them at the very start of the song? It made almost no difference since the cameras then switched from the audience to the stage, which was lit in red as well, thus making the impact the glowsticks had on the stage minimal.

It would've been much better if they'd had the audience light the glowsticks at the start of the 2nd verse or the bridge, with the camera showing Anna from behind and a sea of glowsticks emerging in the crowd. That would've been much more exciting and dazzling.

It seems the Swedish delegations simply does not know how to put up a good show despite being made up of purported "professionals". Bah, bring in a random gay guy with a flair for the fabulous (like me!) any day over SVT's "professionals".
two victories, two bronze and two 5th places later, I find this very hilarious to read :D

I wonder if he has wrote to SVT yet attending for the job Björkman has like he said he would 7 years ago xrofl3
