It's shocking that you have us in your faves the first year we don't sing in Spanish

Not entirely true, just in the 2010's this is the 2-3 time Spain is in my personal top. 10...

I think people always misunderstand me, I always support the songs I like first and foremost, a bad song in native won't get my support just because it's in native language and while I think there should be an emphasize on native languages in ESC I don't support those entries by default or choose not to support good entries in English... and in particular when there's almost no native language entries in the contest it makes it even tougher right...

I expected this to flop, but not as hard as what they got for their final result :s 22nd is too low for this nice and energetic song.

I thought last year Spain got a fairly accurate place, Edurne's live performance was just ridiculous, but come on, Barei did so well and the song is so fun to listen to... I'm really not pleased with this year's results, and Spain is just one of the unlucky ones.

Spanish head of delegation said that Spain and other countries are trying to change the voting system (it's not new, but there will be meetings in the following months to get consensus). Their points is that the current system is perfect to choose the top-5 or the top-10, but it's not so fair for the rest of the ranking. He said they already have some maths studies.

Gosh, I think I agree with this man for the first time ever. Block voting doesn't affect for the winner or the top, cause you have to collect points from almost every country to be there, but its influence in the lower places is huge. When the amount of points is small, any douze points or high exchange with the neighbours distorts the result a lot. Without this, countries like Spain or the UK wouldn't still do well until they send a really good entry, but would be able to save their dignity and avoid constant bottom results that they don't deserve either.
We will not win anyway, but it's not the same to be 15th or 16th than 22nd or 24th.

Well, he may have some valid points (ie. I don't understand how this entry got 12 points from the italian jury, the same could be said about the lithuanian one), but I think he should get out of his head. I mean, if a country is consistently getting bad results, something isn't being properly done. TVE should do a team overhaul for the next year or refrain from whining about their results, which are in part due to their own lack of passion/excitement. The song was decent, the singer was on spot and it was sung in english: what is the excuse this year?

Despite everything said above, the final performance left me with a good impression and I thought until the end that this would be saved from bottom five. Oh, well.

video for those who speak spanish, with some accurate statements in the comment section:

I voted for Barei. And I am so happy to see that the norwegian jury rewarded Barei with 7 points - and at the same time leaving both Russia and Sweden out of their top 10.
I really dont know why she didnt do better. I was pretty sure this would be a top 10.

At least I hope it's clear now that singing in english dosn't necessarily equal success.

^ This is actually something that I'm glad about. Had Barei finished in the top 10, we might have never heard Spanish in Eurovision again. They would be all like "oh English worked! Let's start sending only songs in English from now on!".

Bring back the Spanish language! xgaah

PS I still love Barei and the song! ;)

Well considering that Austria and France were very successful this year with the televote pretty much proves that you do not need English to be successful. Although, I'm surprised that nobody is mentioning the fact that Spain was right after Russia. I get the feeling that everyone went to take a piss after Russia's magic wall act. I think if it was placed anywhere else in the 2nd half, more people might have voted of it and would have gotten more points. While Barei's song was quite hyped, it was nothing compared to the cocaine everyone was snorting like cookies on the Russian hype train.

It's a shame too as I was hoping this to be in the top 10 as it was a crowd favorite. I was a little annoyed that she decided to fall during the act, but getting only 22nd is pretty much a slap on the face. Next year, I think Germany and Spain should swap languages and Germany sends a song in Spanish and Spain sends a song in German and see what happens.

Expected it to flop and it did, sadly I never got on the hype train with this song. I do believe though that 22nd is too low.

Honestly, I think language was the issue this time. Many people were like "WTF" when they realized Spain is singing in English. People got used to the fact Germany, Sweden and other countries have songs in English every year, but when they realized Spain did the same thing they were quite shocked. They were like "Why would someone decide to sing in English if their own language sound so nice with music". I think every country has a right to sing in any language they want, but I think Spain made a big mistake.

I expected this to flop. But I was pretty ok with her performance. She was basically the iceland of the grand final.

Sad to say, but it deserved to flop. It is just a bad song that goes nowhere and no staging can improve that fact. It is time for :es: to return to masterpieces like 2012 and 2014 and slay again xcheer
