(Just created this region thread because Fabi - back in his English roving days - forgot to create it.)

Anyways, welcome to South West England! Here we present gems from Bristol, Cornwall, Dorset, Devon, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Hope you like my short stop around it!

The region is known for its rich folklore, including the legend of King Arthur and Glastonbury Tor, as well as its traditions and customs. Cornwall has its own language, Cornish, and some regard it as a Celtic nation. The South West is known for Cheddar cheese, which originated in the Somerset village of Cheddar; Devon cream teas, crabs, Cornish pasties, and cider. It is home to the Eden Project, Aardman Animations, the Glastonbury Festival, the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, trip hop music and Cornwall's surfing beaches. The region has also been home to some of Britain's most renowned writers, including Daphne du Maurier and Agatha Christie, both of whom set many of their works here, and the South West is also the location of Thomas Hardy's Wessex, the setting for many of his best-known novels.

For WV122, we're going to Cornwall as the title suggests. This time going folkish and Cornish xviolin ...and would be likely to stay in the semi.

This is absolutely delightful. I know you're immaculate when it comes to picking out from the beloved classics but it's this side of you at the contest that I find so rewarding, when you share your hidden gems. To hear such charming English folk like this is beautiful and so soothing right now. I can forget about my troubles for three minutes. Thank you for this artist introduction, Eulaliya.

Here are the lyrics. I actually went through the song about three times jotting them down before realising they're actually in the description of the video you linked (Dooh!). Got it pretty much spot on by my own ear though.

Lyonessse, Lyonesse
Where is your shore
Houses and villages
Houses and villages
Seen no more

Lyonessse, Lyonesse
Under the sea
Dreams lie with mermaids
Children to be
Dreams lie with mermaids
Children to be

Royal line, Royal line
Where your domain
Of your bright palaces
Of your bright palaces
Man remain

Royal line, Royal Line
Will you return
Where bones lie mouldering
Under the fern
Where bones lie mouldering
Under the fern

Every year, every year
Life springs again
Giving you chances
Giving you chances
Healing pain

Every year, every Year
We can rebuild
Dream woven palaces
Round a new child
Dream woven palaces
Round a new child

Cornish child, Cornish child
You are today
Travelling with every man
Travelling with every man
On your way

Cornish child, Cornish child
Within your life’s will
There is a Lyonessse
That can be still
There is a Lyonessse
That can be still

Lyonessse, Lyonessse
Where was your shore
Houses and villages
Houses and villages
Seen no more
Seen no more

Damn it!! The nightmare when you have a friend with similar tastes in regions you want to visit! I had lined up Ms. Aplin for when I (eventually :p ) got to ::swen!! Well, this certainly promises to be an amazing NF in that case - will be listening over the weekend! xlove

Not many people realize I've send a Tears for Fears song before, namely the famous cover of this song:

I like this band even though I am not sure if I know the songs you choose of them... anyway, you can expect me to vote :)

"Stay"

Life is like a circus wheel

And I never know how to feel
You're still living in the way back then
But I never meant to hurt you or to lose a friend
'Cause time's gone by on a runaway train
And there's nothing we can do to bring it back again

But you, you're looking at me
Just say what you want
Just say what you need
'Cause I was meant to be free
To come as I go and go as I please

Did you think I'd stay?
Well, you should turn the other way
'Cause we're never going back again
All you did was stay
Holding on to yesterday
Well, it's never coming back again

Life, a couple hundred miles away
And I remember you like it was yesterday
So why, why are you looking at me?
It's not what you want, it's not what you need

Did you think I'd stay?
Well, you should turn the other way
'Cause we're never going back again
All you did was stay
Holding on to yesterday
Well, it's never coming back again

You can stay in the past
You can live a lie
Say I've changed
Call me cold
Call me what you like
And never know what it's like on the other side

You can stay in the past
You can live a lie
Say I've changed
Call me cold
Call me what you like
And never know what it's like on the other side

Did you think I'd stay?
Well, you should turn the other way
'Cause we're never going back again
All you did was stay
Holding on to yesterday
Well, it's never coming back again

You can stay in the past
You can live a lie
Say I've changed
Call me cold
Call me what you like
And never know what it's like on the other side
Never know what it's like on the other side

You can stay in the past
You can live a lie
Say I've changed
Call me cold
Call me what you like
And never know what it's like on the other side

Never know what it's like on the other side
