Well, I can't find the 2024 general discussion thread yet. I'm providing a thread to house it before mods will make one.

You may discuss anything related to the 2024 contest in general.

EDIT: Welp, I guess it has manifested into one.xshrug Let's go guys!

No way we're getting 41 countries back when we face a war in Europe and having to face rising costs for the participation fees... some broadcaster are already struggling and they haven't even announced their participation yet.

If 41 countries take part, we will have to applaud the EBU for convincing so many broadcasters in the end Oo.

:us: should stay away from the competition.
:au: is the only exception I'd like to tolerate, tbh.

:kz: would be a strange move after they withdrew from JESC and stopped broadcasting Eurovision after doing so for more than decades...

So according to wikipedia, we have 35 countries so far with Andorra, Bosnia, Monaco and Slovakia being officially out and Australia, Armenia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Turkey unmarked. Any of those participating combos again would be awesome.

:us: should stay away from the competition.
I assure you that :us: will stay away from ESC due to lack of interest by the general American public. In fact, Peacock, the NBC-owned streaming service, did not publicize its coverage of ESC within the US. Also, due to the geoblocking of the more recent live ESC performances, I don't see the popularity of Eurovision growing in the US beyond the competition's small but devoted following.

Don't worry, :us: will not be participating. The EBU is not THAT desperate. :ca: would have a better possibility of participating than us, lol.

My choice is :kp:. They gotta boost tourism somehow.

Rumor is there could be 41 countries in for 2024. It would mean :tr: could surprisingly return or we see a debut I think of :us: or :kz:

I'm trying to not be too optimistic yet, this could not mean much, but 41 countries would be really nice!

So I guess that would be the current 35 + :me::ro::mk::am::au: (all have yet to outright deny their participation) and then a complete surprise, the most likely I would say is either :tr: returning or a :kz: debut. So it's not impossible, actually.

And next year we will likely have a debut for :mc: and :sk: returning!

wtf

Welp, instead of choosing cringey or banal slogans they decided to stick with one indefinitely.
Even though I like that they chose our slogan (inspired by Ukrainian-Canadian conductor), but every host should have opportunity to show their creativity (or complete lack of it ).
