Well, I can't find the 2024 general discussion thread yet. I'm providing a thread to house it before mods will make one.

You may discuss anything related to the 2024 contest in general.

EDIT: Welp, I guess it has manifested into one.xshrug Let's go guys!

Well, it´s the date announced on the official Eurovision site, so I guess it´s the final one.

It's funny when people say that :se: knows "When Eurovision needs a change".

SVT/:se: came up with the 50-minutes-interval-acts nonsense, inviting US American pop stars performing generic songs, dragging the flag parade etc.

No, for example, Charlie Rivel performed in ESC 1973. Inviting American performers was not a Swedish introduction.

Thank you for informing is.
I've been watching ESC since 1997 (and haven't been alive around 1973 and tbh, I don't really care about the previous editions and have never watched them).

Still, the combination of all things in modern times got introduced by Swedish producers and when Sweden held the contest (inviting Americans, flag parade, all the interval guests, the jury voting system (50/50)) which led to the length we face today.

Personally, it's not a problem for me, I just dislike the narrative that "Sweden is looking to cut the final because it's too long" even though they caused it in the first place xD

What gets me more is that each time they host they feel a need to change something. Why?? The BBC also this year with having all the singers on stage until it crashed and burned. Is the final long? Yes. But i don't think people generally see it as a problem - its a time of celebration. If the late finish is too much of a concern then they could just move the start back an hour.

OGAE Second Chance is in the books, and it was a Nordic sweep of the top 3 places with Sweden taking the title for the 19th time

1st: :se: Marcus & Martinus - Air

2nd:  Ulrikke - Honestly

3rd: :fi: KUUMAA - Ylivoimainen

German NF wasnt nearly as good as last year when that woman forgot the words to her own song for 20 seconds

Nothing will ever beat this flop though:

"So I uhhhm mhhmmm mhmm imagine hmmm" "Sorry" - "WEEEEEEEEEEE-EEHHHHEEEEEELLLLLLL".
