The Slovak public broadcaster, STV, announced some two weeks ago that the names of the acts to compete at the first stages of the country's national selection for Eurovision 2010 would be made public in December. Now, the station have scheduled the announcement on December 15th.

Quite a few of the artists took part in the 2009 NF too, most notably Tomáš Bezdeda who finished 2nd. Marcel Polander represented Slovakia in 1996.

Slovak national broadcaster STV have informed that the series of shows to choose the country's representative for Oslo will be hosted by the popular tv presenter Martin Rausch. Well-known to the Slovak public, Martin already played the same role hosting the 2009 Eurovision selection.
The Slovak 2010 Eurovision selection will kick off in late January, according to the national broadcaster. Martin Rausch will be once again the host of the shows, while Martin Kontúr will report on the activity behind the scenes.

As already reported, the Slovak procedure will comprise a number of heats, starting in the second half of January, and a final, scheduled for February. A total of 60 acts will fight it out to represent Slovakia next year in Oslo. You can learn more about it here .

More details have been revealed:

There will be 10 songs in every heat -> 4 best out of each heat go to the semi.

12 songs in each semi -> 6 best out of each semi go to the final.

12 songs in the final


only televoters vote in each heat.

50% jury / 50% televoters in both semis and in the final.

edit: judging from few interviews it seems there will be a lot of pop rock ballads, as always.

Robo is quite famous in Slovakia. He (heavily) promotes himself in Slovakian press. Possible finalist.

hmm, I'm not a fond of such ballads but this song is better than any Slovakian song from the last NF, imo
oh, and it's longer than 3 minutes.

1st? They've nearly all been available for weeks now they're mostly all a high level soft rock once again like last year, stuff that's very good but would almost certainly flop at ESC

Well we can't post mp3 links on the forum but if you know the program "SoulSeek", go to the Eurovision Song Contest room and they're pretty easy to find. Otherwise, you can try looking on the participating artists' myspaces, I think the majority were found there!

^ screw p2p (I can't be sure there if it's demo of a song or official version), it takes too much time to find 60 performers on myspace, I thought they were available on STV in 1 place like last year.

Tomas is overrated, he was overrated already last year. He wasn't even the best then, and this year his new song is worse than last year. It's not bad, but is just as you say ordinary.

I also agree with you on Michaella & Hrdza, those should go to the final (hopefully).
