Every Russian woman needs to know (Ха, ха)
You're strong enough to bounce against the wall (Эй, эй)
Every Russian woman needs to know (Ха, ха)
You're strong enough to bounce against the wall (Эй, эй)

Every Russian woman needs to know (Ха, ха)
You're strong enough to bounce against the wall (Эй, эй)
Every Russian woman needs to know (Ха, ха)
You're strong enough (Эй, эй)

Да, you're strong enough, you're strong enough
Don't be afraid (Don't be afraid)
Don't be afraid (Don't be afraid)
Don't be afraid (Don't be afraid)
Don't be afraid, don't be afraid

О-о-о

I didn't want to score this song until several listens and now I'm ready to give it a :6:. Not a bad song at all and at least is a risky effort from Russia, with a lot of different elements. The fact this is causing high controversy in Russia among more conservative people makes me like it even more. Sorry not sorry xcheer

Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko has criticised the song saying that "it is nonsense with horse-people" and asked to investigate the selection process.

A-lister's review:

Ok I'm going to say it, this is the best and most authentic Russian entry since the Babushkis and it's such a relief to have something more genuine from Russia for a change instead of all these generic, dated and kitschy pompous Kirkorov entries we tend to get. This is like M.I.A. meets Russian folklore and Central-Asian influences all packaged together, it's quirky yet interesting and somehow all these styles blend well together and to think that this was put together in such a short period of time is in itself really an accomplishment. While it differs in genre and style, I'd compare it to Israel's "Feker Libi" last year and it's rare where we have such a diverse blend in one song and that it all ends up working well together. This is currently my #1 this year, I am really afraid the juries will completely kill this though because it includes all that they hate in one song (ethnic elements, native singing, native language, rapping, originality) and it will be truly disturbing if stuff like North Macedonia, Norway, Sweden and Slovenia will be ranked higher in the semi than this thanks to the juries, but unfortunately I'm afraid that will happen and I am not sure when we will ever get such an authentic Russian entry again and we'll probably be back to Kirkorov-land again if this one flops too bad.

Ori Kaplan is sachoponist, really good musician who worked in the USA.. And I hear in these trumpet parts some Balkan-Hebrew sound.. :)

Yes I know, but this time not, those are real Israeli musicians:

Songwriter(s)

Not sure what you mean by "real", majority of Israelis have origins from elsewhere, maybe not first generation but second or third. More or less half of the country has European roots.

Anyways, beyond the point, still one of the best and most authentic Russian entries to date imo :)

I'm really sorry, we're finally seeing how rotten some Russians are at this point.

THE GOOD:
  • This is a really good song. The best Russia has had in a while.
  • I also applaud the message, especially coming from Russia.
THE BAD:
  • The backing vocals are a bit unsettling in the beginning.
THE VERDICT:

Good job, Russia. You've got something good going on here. While it may not win, I like the song's energy, its message, and the beat, too, in the meantime. For me, it's better than "Uno". It's definitely punched its ticket to the Final for that alone and because it is Russia after all. We'll see where it ends up after that. 8 points
