The final chorus tonight:

I think a better-delivered finish could've pushed him over the top, given how close he was.

Congrats Seryozha xrose

As I predicted, Russia would either win or be third. The last option came true. Again, killed by juries (like Switzerland). I think that he deserved more points from juries. Even though he did not hit all the notes perfectly, he had a difficult song that was chosen to showcase his singing abilities. It didn't help. This only shows how useless are juries.

If there weren't any juries, Seryozha would have returned with a great banger and memorable performance. Now, we have this. But definitively he prooved that juries are pointless, biased and complete nonsense. And his result is only one of many proofs to this fact.

Nah, realest, this is not what I meant. He returned with a jury-friendly song. He knew it is not enough to win public vote if juries downvote you. And this approach did not pay off. I am pretty sure that Sergey would have chosen a different song if he wanted only the points of public. You see, this is the problem. More and more winners are those songs that don't win the juries' vote or public's vote. You have to find the balance - like Netherlands last night, like Sweden with Mans etc. Russians/Sergey is smart, but they were simply butchered by juries as they are very often in these years.

I agree that his Song was juryfriendly and should have done a bit better. Im also mad about the German Jury who even gave 0 in the Semi, but the competition was strong and except :cz: and maaaayyybe :au: I dont think anyone undeservedly beat him, but in the End he benefitted by them so who cares.

So, we obviously agree. The major point I was trying to make in my first post was that juries aren't working. This is my main conclusion this year. And Russia is just a further case to support my argument. Sergey was "helped" by juries only because juries' votes were total mess last night (and in the semis). But when you look at points, would you say that Lucca is as a good singer as Sergey? They got very much the same amount of points, but I think that Sergey is a professor for the little Swiss. So... Something's not working right with these juries.

It's all about the countries, with this song and performance :uk: easily could get the last place.

One of the the most overrated entries yestrday. Didn't deserve top 3. Not even top 10.

I felt a bit sorry for Sergey. He and his team surely do make a huge effort that again didn’t pay off with a win. Maybe it’s just because he has a pretty face that I feel sorry for him.

Again he was punished by juries. Quite unfair, the composition is quality and I‘m sure they were let down because it‘s Russia.
Each member of my family loved Russia from the beginning. And my family doesn’t know anything about ESC. They didn’t knew Sergey or that he was successful in 2016 or that Russia did always well in the past often. They all loved it. It was our #1 unisono.
But my sister already said before the results were announced that it‘s probably too dark and tragic for Eurovision, that’s why she believed he wouldn’t get many points.

:ru: would have been 4th without Juries. So this Time :ru: benefitted by them.

True, on paper. But he would be 4th just because the other participants were worse, not because he was liked by the juries. They only had him 9th. This is ridiculous.

The most cringe-worthy moment was this. So much bad acting by a dozen of Sergeys. It actually surprises me that he kept his 3rd place resume.

Georgia and Russia were in War.
Lithuania also often ranks Russia last.

It always amazes me than people involved in the Russian participation in Eurovision are mad at the results and state their delusional opinion on being unfairly treated when in fact, Russia often does exactly that (see Russia 2017, the tactical jury vote this year which was utterly disgusting and embarrassing and tbh, the Russian jury should be punished for it).

Sergey does not deserve the shade I’ve been reading not only in this forum but in social media. I might not be a fan of his songs but he brought to Eurovision professionalism, quality, good performances and he’s always treated eurofans and ESC with respect and even admiration.
Of course that Georgian jury placing him 26th uninamously is fishy and he is right to express his discomfort.
