Literally every girl in the current ViaGra is Ukrainian. Well, one is Hungarian but she and her family have lived in Ukraine for a while.

Via Gra in its current form is a Ukrainian group...
What I wish for is that Russia stops sending songs about peace (I mean really!?!?) and stop importing cliché ballads in English from Sweden... I still can't over the fact that a country like Russia needs to settle with imports... I mean I can "get" if a small country without much of a local music scene would do it but Russia??? Really why? Kremlin TV hates west but still choose western entries... makes no sense

Music is universal especially in this globalized world. And I don't see why you keep bashing certain countries for not sending folk songs. This is not a folklore contest.

Who talked about folk songs? It's not a folklore contest, but it's a contest where entries are suppose to represent their countries (this could mean folklore, Pop, Rock, R&B whatevs...)
But yes, let's make all music world-wide sound like dated American wannabe stuff to satisfy the greedy labels there
I'm only "bashing" the fact that countries, in a contest which is about to represent your country (duh), settle for importing entries from abroad that has no connection to the local music scenes what-so-ever... that's the issue here... and when a HUGE country like Russia can't even find a single Russian composer or producer? Then it's really sad...
Let's take Polina for instance... I love her Russian hits (they are POP and not FOLK) but we ended up with a cheesy imported dated ballad in English instead that sounds nothing like the songs that made her a big name on the current Russian Pop scene... in other words not representative of her as an artist nor the Russian music scene as a whole...
You do realize that their song choices lately are imported, calculated and manufactured to cater to the juries in ESC and wouldn't be chosen by the Russian public themselves (if they had any say that is)?
