Happy to hear that. I'm not surprised you like it. It's Delain's trademark style to combine simple pop melodies with heavy guitars. Only in their last album their music was more progressive and significantly more metal (and quite impressive, imo). I was torn between choosing one of those newer songs (which probably wouldn't do well in NSC) and their classic style. Ended up going for the latter. We'll see if you're right.

It was a successful period followed by no luck.

nsc 180
Tardigrade Inferno - We Are Number One
First, dark cabaret metal cover of a villain's song from a kids show. However random it sounds, it finished in top 6, with seven 12s received!

nsc 181
Leningrad - Ju-Ju
Then, Leningrad, a prolific band that started out playing ska and has since then branched out to different styles, tried their luck with this super catchy electropop song, and brought Rumia our 2nd ever double PQ.

nsc 182
Delain - Burning Bridges
For another PQ, we decided to finally send one of Rumia's most popular bands, Delain. With Burning Bridges, they're showing a heavier and more progressive side of their music that they're going for on their newest album.

nsc 183
Message to Bears - Mountains
For the next two entries we decided to opt for calmer vibes. This melancholic indie folk song topped the charts in Rumia after it was featured in a hit videogame Life is Strange.

nsc 184
Danit - Cuatro Vientos
Cuatro Viento was our last final in a while. Gentle guitars and dreamlike vocals in a reflective song of nature, inspired by native traditions that are hard to pinpoint.

nsc 185
Linked Horizon - Guren no Yumiya
Attack on Titan wasn't a big hit in Rumia, unlike its opening, which had massive success. Quite the opposite in NSC, where it got the lowest score in history. Journalists commented that audiences abroad just aren't used to Revo's ingenious style of songwriting.

nsc 186
Delain - Suckerpunch
Rockself.com 13 winner. You can read all about it above. This also coincides with a huge decline in our entries and our favorites' qualifying rate. What's the reason for the recent trend? Influx of pop nations, reptilian conspiracy or just temporary bad luck? We'll see, but regardless of results we're planning to stay true to ourselves and send only music that audience here in the country love.

nsc 187
Hell Boulevard - Satan in Wonderland
Energetic catchy goth rock was next. They came out of nowhere to make a sudden success in local music scene, but didn't succeed much abroad.

nsc 188
Bjarla - Obryad (Seid)
Finally, we decided to go back to our roots and show something most representative of Rumian style and culture - a mix of slavic and nordic pagan folk.

Rumia is not musically the closest country to Svobodnian taste
But Tardigrade Inferno, Leningrad, Delain and Bjarla were actually fire 🔥🔥🧡

NSC 189
Samurai - Never Fade Away

Samurai is a rock band from the Cyberpunk universe. The band's leader and a major character in the latest game Cyberpunk 2077, Johnny Silverhand, portrayed by Keanu Reeves, was an outspoken anti-corporate activist allegedly involved in a bombing that killed over 12000 people. The real life group behind Samurai is a punk band Refused. Recording actual Samurai music is one of the finest details brining the world of Cyberpunk and its characters to life.

The Last Bison - Setting Our Tables
The Last Bison is an indie folk band from the marshes of the Tidewater region. Their origins have a clear impact on their music, as you can hear American country sound and melodies, while a cello and a violin add a refined touch. The result is this charming song they're going to representing Rumia with.

Nightwish - The Poet and the Pendulum
When first Rockself.com Festival was organized to select our NSC 64 entry, it was decided that this recurring event would be the only chance for artists to return to the contest under Rumia's flag. Today, 127 editions later, we're removing this policy! It worked for a long time, ensuring variety of entries and giving chance to new and promising names. But nowadays we're finding that being strict with this rule is more limiting than helpful. We've been thinking of removing it for a while now, and the final decision was made spontaneously. As we couldn't come to a conclusion regarding NSC 191 entry, after 4 entry changes, in the last moment it was decided to ask one of the most successful bands in Rumia to enter the NSC scene for us once again. And they'll enter it for 13 minutes and 54 seconds of a dramatic metal symphony. Rest assured, we still have many new artists to enter (after all, we submit an average of 2.5 entries per edition). So expect mostly fresh stuff in future, with an old favorite entered once in a long while.

Since I'm being told all my entries sound exactly the same, I'm throwing this quick NF to fix the problem and to raise overall artistic quality of ::rum

'no tears left to cry' please. I really hope you're not trolling. Ariana has artistic integrity because she sings really well and writes her own music.

Lustre - The First Snow

Okay, maybe Ariana Grande is not featured in this track, but I'm pretty sure it was inspired by her music.
