We are in front of some changes in Eurovision...
It seems that Jan Ola is not against of Australia staying in Eurovision for ever.
Also China is interested in taking part.
What should be done?

In my opinion,
the best solution is:
Having each year ONE country from the rest of the world as guest (Australia,China,Canada etc),
and give the chance to all the countries who broadcast live the constest, to vote.

What do you think?
What should be done?

No. A plain no.
The only thing that could be OK for me is: Australia in for the rest of Eurovision, but NO other non-EBU countries.
What I would like though is a kind of 'rest of the World' voting, which combine the voting of Canada, China, New Zealand, ...
But other new countries, just a plain no, it's time to get Bosnia, Luxembourg, Croatia, ... back first

GRE I would be ok with what you suggest. With Australia in, I find it difficult to refuse the participation of other non-European countries from now on, especially considering Canada, South Africa or China are interested in it.

One guest per year would be fine.

Only full EBU members + EBU associate members who have an exclusively European culture should be able to participate.

I really think that this will be the last year we have a "Big 5". There have been hints all over the shop that they are looking to drop it, plus they get enough money from sponsors now.

I knew Jan Ola Sand is a Trojan Horse out to destroy the very concept of this contest and now with Björkman onboard it's a double threat...

Really China???

And I don't agree that Australia should be couped in aswell... anniversary thing ok... but the way they try to sneak in Australia the back door with blatant lies about the anniversary invitation is just crappy while they closed doors to other countries in the past like Lichtenstein and Kazakhstan who actually are geographically European unlike Australia that is on the other side of the globe.

If they want to create a parallel Worldvision with all the technological difficulties and other cr*p that would follow then be my guest, but for Christ sake please let Eurovision stay EUROvision... NO MORE NON-EUROPEAN EXPANSION THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

And to clarify... I have NOTHING against Australia or other non-European countries, but this is a very sacred concept and simply don't think it's fair to play around with it and make it too big and too technologically difficult for its own good...

A parallel Worldvision? YES , EUROvision turning into Worldvision? HELL NO!

I have no problem with non-European countries entering the contest if:
the broadcaster has been EBU Associate Member for at least 10 years
AND
the broadcaster has live broadcasted ESC for at leat 5 years in a row (in full length, uncensored, etc)

What hints are there that the big 5 could be dropped?

The Big 5 has nothing to do with the EBU contribution. The reason they do the Big 5 is because if any of the 5 withdrew because of poor results it would have a significant impact on Eurovision viewership (if the UK withdrew just on its own, Eurovision would automatically drop around 10 million viewers) = far less income from voting too. I dont think the "Big" status will ever be abandoned.

I don't want the EBU to act like FIFA. Whoever pays enough is in? I don't like that at all!
China has no connection to Eurovision. The only reason for letting China participate, would be to make more money. It's much easier to argue in favor of Australia, especially if it's just a one-time participation.

I am ;) They fit that category :p

They will be thrilled to hear that. ;)
If you replace "exclusively" with "mostly" (or a fancier expression of similar meaning), I might agree.

So will the Latin American countries will participate in Eurovision as well..? we could give 12x24 to Spain or Portugal, and bring the contest to Madrid or Lisbon finally :D

For the upcomming years i would suggest 1 guest country from the rest of the world each year,
but after 10 years i wouldn't mind if there will be a 3rd Semi called "Rest of the World" (Australia,New Zealand,China,Kazakstan,Canada,Qatar etc).
But from this Semi only few countries (3-4) should qualify to the Final.

You would need a sufficient number of countries to create a third "semi" and they would have to compete as second-class participants in order to keep Eurovision a European contest. These countries would be from very different timezones with no connection to each other. I'm not so sure, this would work. If that many countries were interested, they could surely organize a regional edition of the contest.

It is time to abolish "only 6 personS on stage allowed". And, of course end jury voting and back to the random draw.
