What I don't understand is that most of Woodkid directed videoclips, "Blue Jeans", "Born to Die", "Killer", "Sign of the Times", etc, are for low and mid tempo songs, icoracao is a high tempo song, using similar shots or framing(and making the thing b&w for the public at home) would make no sense whatsoever.
Has he directed any live performances that anyone is aware of?
Not that I'm aware of. But yeah. That reference she made considering visual style is a bit weird.

The Portuguese national final, Festival da Canção 2023 Final, took place on Saturday 11 March 2023. Here is my video, containing my opinions on all thirteen finalist songs in order of performance (based on Festival da Canção 2023 Final performances), and my ranking from thirteenth to first in My Eurovision Scoreboard.

Recently I listened to a portuguese podcast where one of the members was complaining about the voting system not representing proportionally how the judges nor the public voted, so since this year RTP made it public the percentage of the televote for each song I decided to ran the numbers and see if it would have changed anything.
The actual voting system is 50-50, the top 10 of the public is added to the top 10 of the judges, the results I'm showing would have been if the points of the judges wouldn't have been converted to the 12 to 1 points and if the televote points would have been proportional.
To make it clear how I ended with this number, the amount of point that the judges can give is 406, if a song got 50% of the televote that song would have gotten 203 points from the public.

I doubt that RTP would ever change the voting system to something like this because the system of converting the results to a top 10 prevents someone from buying their victory, which sadly was something that the composer of the 2014's portuguese entry was accused of, although this system would have make the voting more interesting than it actually was.

I very much prefer this system tbh. Much better. Everyone gets points from the public, so no one gets blanked.

Chicago but directed by Woodkid.
Not sure what that means...
I'm not sure either; Woodkid has done all kinds of artsy popsy music that you would hear in promos occasionally (thinking of the time his hit Run Boy Run was used to promote The Musketeers series on BBC I think. But never anything with burlesque elements. Like at all. But I'm slightly familiar with his music video directing style too at least. So is the team of Mimicat going for... artsy burlesque vibe? :censored: like, sad glamorous filters of a life of a burlesque performer?

(and no, Teenage Dream wasn't a very sad type of a music video, he directed that one too. Just a heads up)

It only works when you announce the televotes little by little while adding them up on top of the jury score. Lithuania and Moldova are guilty of announcing jury and televote points separately and all at once, while making the viewer do the math and maybe figuring the winner out really quickly depending on how long are the points on screen shown. Bonus points if people know which voting party breaks ties in case of a tie.

Honestly mimicat is reminding me a lot of the situation with Monika liu last year, people writing her off for no reason despite the bags of charasima great song and unapologetic promotion and use of native language

I was so worried that Portugal would be opening the semifinal, but we have a good spot, in the middle of two bands and surrounded by male singers.
Hopefully Mimicato 5 makes it into the finalxpray

I like our spot tbh. I was really worried we would get one of the first 3 but #5 is good. We're also between Latvia and Ireland, so yeah I think it's good.

Now let us pray to the Eurovision gods for a good result and for MOTHERcat to slay.

Portugal is one of my most loved countries of all times, but what they sent in 2021 made me second-guess my love. I wanted a brutal divorce. Then 2022 came, and we were good. Now 2023, and I am thinking, Portugal, seriously, why would you do this to me after all we've been through? Not cool.

This song is really annoying. I tried it several times already, and my ears want to shut down, my eyes don't want to see. I can't love it. The singer has strong vocal chords, so kudos to her. Her makeup and hairdo makes her look very old, she should get rid of the blond dye. I hate when Southern women colour their hair yellow and Northern women paint theirs black, it always looks bad.

I hate to say it but Portugal is low for me this year. Not at the rock bottom like 2021, because this year sucks overall and it's full abominations, but I wouldn't rank it higher than 20th.
