I've already ranked my personal top 10. It wasn't a pleasant task ranking my favourites because I absolutely love the 10 songs I've given points to. 'Too many' great songs, considering there is only 1 who gets the maximum, the 10, the 8 points and so on... :? and I also left a song out that I also like a lot, it grew a lot on me since the semis, and it's a shame because I would have loved to support it because it concerns a nation that I don't remember the last time that I gave points to in a final. :| The good side is that I'm almost sure it will appeal many particular voters. But, well, it's only my opinion, which doesn't hit the target very often.

If most people tend to send their votes on last day, what is the point of setting a 1-week voting period?¿

Because a shorter voting period would mean having to vote more often, and a lot of people can't afford to devote more than a few hours per week to NSC I know for sure that I would have to withdraw if the voting period was shortened to, say, 3 days.

3 days is too short, I dont think many have the motivation let alone time to vote that quickly. It seems to me though that it doesnt matter If the DDL is 3 days 7 days or 37 days, many will choose to sit on their votes until the final day anyway. That said I do agree with Ewigkeit. I've always been a supporter of shorter over longer DDLs. When I hosted about 2/3 of players voted on the final day, same with entry submissions and I just don't think it's fair that all that work for banners etc gets piled on the host in one go instead of being able to stagger it out over days. Ofc for some its unavoidable, but if you can vote earlier or have made your votes, then you should do.

You make a fair point. I will say, though, that if there had been a 3- or 5-day deadline this time I would've most likely failed to vote in the final since I was away for a wedding this week until Sunday night, and would have had no opportunity to listen to the songs before then.

I don't think I could keep participating in NSC if the deadlines were even shorter than they already are. It's hard enough to find windows in my schedule to listen to the songs as it is.

I pretty missed out the fact that some people may actually need those 7 days (because of real life issues, etc). However, I still want to encourage people with low workload to send their votes early. Trying to enter too many sets of votes in the Excel file and removing private messages in order to create space in the PM box... the last day is quite stressful.[/selfish]

Personally speaking as someone guilty of voting on last days, I tend to listen to the songs over a day or two and send my votes usually a day or later, that normally does leave me voting until the end unfortunately, I tend to not login to the forum much as RL gets in the way! Regardless Aclaira has now sent its votes after listening to the last songs.
