With X Factor Malta being the selection again, I can already imagine Gaia Cauchi winning, they give her a MF reject by the Debs or something from Milanov's drawer saved for 5+ years, not with the same hype as other years cause they got exposed, and then I see 2 outcomes: either this crashes and burns, or goes surprisingly well.

I don't see why not!
Malta is a small country with a small market, so I guess that seeing more established artists going to Eurovision makes sense, since there aren't so many to begin with.

It is fitting to commend the wise decision of the new management of PBS, that with immediate effect, the representation of Malta in the next edition of Eurovision, will be through a specially staged festival, and not the winner of X Factor Malta. I am convinced that this news will be received with great satisfaction by all Maltese singers, authors and composers.

what a bad and uncalculated decision. like the finally qualified with 2 internal selected entries, both of which finished either in the top 10 or close to the top ten, and then they go back to a nf which produced literally nothing but NQ for them (even 2016 was more or less internally selected)... really don't understand it...

anyway hoping to see Brooke or Maxine next year!

Finally we return to more national finals again. Too many internal selections are really annoying as they always follow the unbearable rhythm of: Artist announcement (Pause) - Title announcement (Pause) - Teaser 1 (Pause) - Teaser 2 (Pause) - Announcement of the release date (Pause) - Snippet (Pause) .... OMG it is leaked!
And every year they invent new ways of splitting this process in even more steps.
