2010 was among my favorites, but it was an awful stage presentation + dreadful vocals, and it's no wonder it ended on last place. I hope for something fresh and good for Latvia as always though, they are one of the rare countries that are always innovative, and they always send something different. I really respect that.

Re: LATVIJA - Latvia 2011

Latvian public broadcaster LTV have announced the rules and dates for their Eurovision 2011 selection, Eirodziesma. There will be 2 semifinals and a final. The winner and thus representative of Latvia in Düsseldorf will be known on February 26th.
Songs submissions are already open and can be sent in to LTV until December 6th. A panel of experts will then choose the 20 lucky entries to battle for the right to represent Latvia. The names of the qualifying entries will be announced on December 14th.

The contestants will be divided in 2 semifinals, to be held on February 5th and 12th. Five will qualify from each of them. As an important novelty, an additional challenge round will be held on February 19th with 10 non-qualifying songs from the semifinals. Two songs will go through the final, one chosen by the public and the other one by the jury.

The national final has been set on February 26th, to be held in Ventspils, featuring a total of 12 songs. Three songs will qualify for the "superfinal", a part of the final. Out of these, the Latvian representative will be chosen. All decisions will be taken by televote and jury vote with a 50% stake each.

We haven't had Latvian in the contest yet, maybe it's time to learn from neighbor Estonia and just send something unique and quality in native language like Estonia did in 2009 with Urban Symphony.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Fomins & Kleins (2004) "Dziesma par laimi" was in latvian.
It sucked though!!!

But I agree, I'm all for a song in latvian. It's the kind of language you really don't get to hear a lot.

I actually remember I was so happy when a song in Latvian won in 2009 and I liked it, too. Then it was changed to Russian... xrofl3 That wasn't too bad since we don't get to hear a lot of Russian, either...

Oh yeah I remember it was originally in Latvian, but still the final ESC version wasn't.

Well it's true, we have too little Russian aswell. But that song was also pretty bad so haha.

I liked the Latvian entry in 2004

For me, it was one of the best Latvian entries ever. I guess the taste differs
