Re: Italy | Scegliamo Insieme

11. RainyWoods' favourite song from this years Sanremo x

For me 5, 6 and maybe 9 seem most promising. I have an idea what 5 might be as I somehow remember you playing me a song that fits that description that I really liked. Maybe 4 I might like too. But number 11 is my favourite option.

5 or 3. 11 is also nice

4,6 or 8 might go as well, but I prefer the above

For my immaculate taste, 3,5,8,9 sound fine, but number 1 is my fave xheart

And don't forget my fave Sanremo entry for this year.

Re: Italy | Giusy Ferreri

The intro banner though. You're saying you can use Sanremo songs from the years they served as a NF? So "Laura non c'è" is eligible to be entered or was it already entered or is it not eligible? xthink

WV 97: Remo Giazotto - Adagio Per Archi E Organo in Sol Minore

Hello xwave

pls somebody make me thread owner

:it: WV 97: Remo Giazotto - Adagio Per Archi E Organo in Sol Minore :it:

Another complicated and long song title but at least it is easy to write unlike Dýrð í dauðaþögn or - the king of song titles - Der Klang der Offenbarung des Göttlichen.

When you look for the song in the world wide web you will mostly find Baroque composer Tomaso Albinoni named as the creator of this but in fact it is not correct:

The Adagio in G minor for violin, strings, and organ continuo is a neo-Baroque composition popularly attributed to the 18th-century Venetian master Tomaso Albinoni, but actually composed by 20th-century musicologist and Albinoni biographer Remo Giazotto, purportedly based on the discovery of a manuscript fragment by Albinoni. There is a continuing scholarly debate about whether the alleged fragment was real, or a musical hoax perpetrated by Giazotto, but there is no doubt about Giazotto's authorship of the remainder of the work.

So that piece is basically a neoclassical one (or neo-baroque to be precise) It has been widely used in movies and media, for instance in a film adaption of Franz Kafka's The Trial (I should watch that movie, I liked the book a lot), in the 1981 movie Dragonslayer in the 1989 film version of The Phantom of the Opera (love this musical cause I can identify myself very well with the Phantom), in the Prequel of the Japanese horror movie "The Ring" and most prominently in the highly acclaimed drama film Manchester by The Sea. It is a very sad, depressing and emotional movie. The scenes in the video are taken from this movie and to be honest it is extremely spoiling. If you are interested in watching the movie dont pay attention to the video and just enjoy this achingly beautiful piece of music.

(gotta love the that from 8:20 on there are birds again... became something like trademark of my entries)

:it: WV 98: Riccardo Fogli - Storie di Tutti i Giorni :it:

This time I try my luck with a song Ive grown up with from the early years on thanks to my dad's mixtapes. But also one of those songs you have been listening to multiple times but never got to know the song title. Credit to RainyWoods who sent me a link of the song and recalled this one back to my mind and finally ive got to know the song title.

It's the first time I send a former ESC participant. Riccardo Fogli entered ESC in 1983 with the sweet little song "Per Lucia" but sadly he ended up only in the mid table. Storie tutti i giorni won the Sanremo festival of1982 and the lyrics is about the daily life stories of the ordinary people. The song was covered multiple times. There are versions in French, Dutch, Fínnish and German. The Dutch one seemed to be extremely successful. But the lyrics of those cover dont have anything to do with the original lyrics, they only stole the melody.

Lyrics

Storie di tutti i giorni
Vecchi discorsi sempre da fare
Storie ferme sulle panchine
In attesa di un lieto fine;

Storie di noi brava gente
Che fa fatica, s'innamora con niente
Vita di sempre, ma in mente grandi idee

Un giorno in più che se ne va
Un orologio fermo da un'eternità
Per tutti quelli così come noi
Da sempre in corsa, sempre a metà;

Un giorno in più che passa, ormai
Con questo amore che non è grande come vorrei

Storie come amici perduti
Che cambiano strada, se li saluti;
Storie che non fanno rumore
Come una stanza chiusa a chiave;

Storie che non hanno futuro
Come un piccolo punto su un grande muro
Dove scriverci un rigo
A una donna che non c'è più

Un giorno in più che se ne va
Un uomo stanco che nessuno ascolterà
Per tutti quelli così come noi
Senza trionfi, né grossi guai;

Niente è cambiato e niente cambierà;

Un giorno in più che passa ormai
Con questo amore che non è forte come vorrei

Re: FORZA ITALIA - WV 100: Some risky shit

After some exhausting last months I finally had some free time. But instead of spending this time well and usefully, I decided to make a register of all my entries sorted by success.

If you interested in statistics, if you are just a whiteshoes fan, if you like to compare your own WV history with mine, or if you wanna have informations about one of my entries for whatever reasons, this table might be useful.

Re: FORZA ITALIA - WV 100: Some risky shit

Wow, such a thoughtful list, even including the genres. I can now pick out ShoeFlo entries to listen to going by my current mood. Be it shoegaze, folktronica or ear porn.

Your two second places that went 220+ points are so unlucky. That would easily be enough to win most editions. So many splendid results though overall. This chart has enhanced my life.

How your entries make me feel.

Re: FORZA ITALIA - WV 100: Some risky shit

:it: WV 100: Ennio Morricone - L' Arena :it:

For WV 100 I chose the legendary movie music mastermind Ennio Morricone who is gonna have his 90th birthday in two weeks :D Since the biggest part of his soundtracks where created for spaghetti westerns he didnt get much recognition by the Oscar acadamy for a long time until 2006, when he won a Honorary Award "in recognition of his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music". 10 years later, in the age of 87, he finally and deservedly won his first regular oscar for his The Hateful Eight soundtrack.

"L' Arena" was originally created for the western movie "Il mercenario" . It is featured in a typical Mexican standoff scene at the end.. However, to be honest, Ive never watched this movie and I dont even know why there is a clown in that scene. I actually dont watch western movies, only care about the music.

More prominently ,"L' Arena" was used in Tarantino's masterpiece Kill Bill Volume 2. It is played in the famous scene when Beatrix Kiddo escapes from the grave thanks to her skills taught by the one and only Pai Mei (R.I.P.) Click. I have to thank Tarantino for getting me into the precious and majestic works of Morricone (and other composers like Bacalov) because the world of spaghetti western was and still is unknown to me (although my dad is a super fan of westerns and even visited the original locations where they produced many of those movies)

For me L' Arena is like the "Hoppipolla of western music" cause it has the similar uplifting impact on me in the last two minutes. Having said that, Hoppipolla is playing in a different league of course, I just refer to those majestic and uplifting vibes that Morricone created in this piece. This is very very precious.

Btw, I am not one of the players that tried to come up with something special for WV 100. I just thought it is time to send an instrumental again. Despite of popularity of Morricone this song isnt a guaranteer for success, quite the opposite actually, this kind of music was rarely tried out in WV and apart of Amir I didnt know anybody who might fall in love with this, so this is certainly an experiment and I am excited to see, how this turns out!

Re: FORZA ITALIA - WV 100: Ennio Morricone - L' Arena

Oh what an embarrassment!
In my personal database above I forgot to add one song. My WV 64 entry Beneath the Open Sky by "Ecco" wasnt included so I just fixed it in the document. Therefore I realized just now that this edition is an anniversary for me... my 60th entry
Anyway, I feel bad for forgetting this very underrated Sigur Ros copycat band so I will make up for this mistake by posting their song now to remind you of that gem. WV 64... so long ago...

Re: FORZA ITALIA - WV 100: Ennio Morricone - L' Arena

Yesterday my WV 100 artist (and WV 96 co-artist) Ennio Morricone turned 90. What a proud age... and he is still quite active!

Happy Birthday, Maestro xbirthday

:it: WV 101: Porcelain Raft - Backwords :it:

A beautiful dreamy, lush and slightly sugary piece of music to finish my "Italy Holidays" in a classy and magical way. Yes, also Italy can into dream pop! Leaving Italy now makes me a little wistful, although I know I have some stunners in NEUS who desperetely wait to get sent. Some of my fav singers and composers are over there.
I hope you appreciated my short Italy era in which I tried to present you a big variety of Italian music that is so much more than average italo-pop. Balllad, Baroque, 80s disco, Shoegaze, Western and now the most whiteshoe-ish of all genres: Dream-pop. Of course I hope I will end this era with a 100% final percentage! Looking at this competitive semi final I see myself in an underdog position, but my fate is in your hands and I hope you guys wont let me down. This sweet song mesmerized me, so I hope it can do the same to you!! Enjoy!

Lyrics

Before you choose the right words
before you even start to explain.
That was the last thing to do.

Tap dancing on the top-roof,
hanging pictures on the wall.
I've got something here for you

Maybe I've never mentioned to you
It wasn't hard to run away from home
That"s at least what I've shown to you

I hope you are in a nice hotel
playing cards in your room
witth someone who cares over you.

Tjúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúú
júúúúúhúúúhúúúúú uuuuh uuuuh uuuh
Tjúúúúúúúúúúúú

And I'm glad you wanted to make it clear
You didn't mean to hurt anyone I'm sure
No, you didn't mean to hurt anyone I'm sure

Calling everybody that I loved the most
Telling secrets no one had to know
It wasn't me that stole some from you.

I read the news about someone
that could talk backwords
Stange enough I thought about you

Tjúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúú
júúúúúhúúúhúúúúú uuuuh uuuuh uuuh
Tjúúúúúúúúúúúú

Helou? xwave
Anybody there?xcookie

The time has come to resurrect this topic and one of the great icons in Worldivision history!xheat

xheart MARZIA GAGGIOLI xheart

Five years after the exhausting millionaire lawsuit against Lazio for defamation and illegal use of her image, which made her known to all Worldvision fans, Marzia has agreed to return to the competition after the excellent tenth place in the 60th edition with the unleashed "I don't speak Polsku" (a participation offered and entirely paid by the organization just to avoid a lawsuit against them too).

Marzia has buried the hatchet and is ready to present six masterpieces of her discography in the:

A Little Bit of Cultural Appropriation National Final

1. L'AUTOSCUOLA

Independence is important. Having a driving licence is a fundamental step for many people. Marzia was reluctant, frightened by the idea of throwing herself into the highways and only a threat from her mother convinced her. Attending driving school turned out to be a crazy experience, thanks to the super funny instructor, so much so that he turned our singer into a reckless motorist. Now it's her mom Lory who's afraid... of dying in a car accident!

2. MAIṀ ĀPA KI HŪM

"In this period I have many health problems and (...) hire a herd of elephants It is not among my priorities!!!" (cit.). You know, only fools don't change their minds, therefore Marzia has finally decided to rent that herd of elephants to impress the audience. Our Hindu goddess surrounds herself with the best figures in Bollywood and takes us to the most exclusive and colourful temples in India.

3. MAMMA NON SA

Marzia is suffering for love, but she doesn't want to show her mother her pain, so she tells her that she is crying because of the "damn onions" that burn her eyes. The poem reaches its climax when Marzia, with tears streaming down her cheeks, sings: "Look how it's raining... under this sun".

4. NAKU KOTO WA ARIMASEN

We move to Japan, among the cherry trees that scatter their petals on our screens, for a very delicate ballad that showcases the most sensitive part of our Marzia. Elegant and romantic, she sings us that asking forgiveness for our mistakes is possible, and it is a noble gesture.

5. STREGA PER TE

In this song Marzia brings out her eclecticism by turning into a witch to bewitch her beloved. She takes him into her tent and reads the palm of his hand to decipher his... present. Because she doesn't foresee the future, she can only read the present and she doesn't give a damn about the past. What kind of man this man, he only falls in love with witches, so here I am, I am Marzia, with my secrets and my magic, I'm your witch!

6. TOUCH MY HEART

Marzia knows how to be in the world but also in sidereal space. She wanders among the planets, as well as among the most disparate musical genres, with her futurist romanticism. The door is open: come into my life, come into my world, deep in my soul and touch my heart.

Your time has come to vote and choose which song will represent Italy in the next edition of Worldvision

I can't believe WorldVision players get the chance to finally enjoy Marzia's beautiful music again. This is so exiting. I truly adored I Don't Speak Polsku. I'm currently twirling with anticipation. I simply cannot wait to listen to these songs.
