So here's mine. Looks a little random with all these differences between semis and Grand Final, but to me some countries delivered only in one show, plus this years Grand Final was more or less on an equal level

Final
1. :hu:
2. :de:
3. :cy:
4. :fr:
5. :cz:
6. :at: (was a stronger final performance IMO)
7. :md:
8. :il: (also was stronger in the final)
9. :ie:
10. :it:
11. :ee:
12. :lt:
13. :bg:
14. :al:
15. :pt:

17. :fi:
18. :nl:
19. :es:
20. :dk:
21. :sl:
22. :uk:
23. (was worse in the final, maybe because Alexander was ill)
24. :rs:
25. :au: (If I thought it was bad already in the semi, in the final I was really tired of it...)

But man, if we could have 15 finalists from semi 1 and 5 from semi 2 and It would have been the greatest final ever. Oh well :(

Australia last, well that’s objective and fair

And not to forget:

This is objective.

I think the Semi Allocation was good as it was tbh. Transfering some Finalspots from Semi2 to Semi1 means Eliminating Hungary in order to save Azerbaijan, Eliminating Serbia in order to save Belgium etc..

To say the truth, I wouldn't be a good Jury member. I am not sure if I would be objective. :?

To be objective would mean we wouldn't have many differences in our votings, why should we want this?

As a Jury member you should try to be as objective as possible - why else would we need juries? Then they could be normal televoters.

objectivity does not exist in music

HOWEVER, as a juror i would consider some factors related to the entry that ultimately have nothing to do with my enjoyment of the act so it wouldn't be 100% my ranking of the entries from favourite to least favourite. for example, the final:

1- estonia
2- hungary
3- israel
4- lithuania
5- slovenia
6- france
7- moldova
8- ukraine
(my opinion is actually ukraine > moldova > slovenia > france but i would choose to shuffle them around to reward uniqueness in composition and moldova's staging)
9- bulgaria
10- finland
11- cyprus
12- serbia
(serbia in my opinion would be #9 but... partly because the staging made them look like a cult xheart i would put a bit more polish above them)
13- portugal
14- albania
15- italy
(i am NOT a fan of italy's song and portugal and albania would be below denmark but they were unique compositions in their own language and i would reward that a bit)
16- denmark
17- sweden
18- netherlands
19- germany
20- united kingdom
(i like uk more than netherlands but it's mostly thanks to surie and storm is just too generic)
21- australia
22- austria
23- czech republic
24- spain
25- norway
(i hate lie to me and would never rank it high but i would recognize it as less pitiful than spain's shitshow and norway's jesc comeback)
26- ireland

in no way i considered reasons not related to the entry such as bumping sweden and australia down because i knew they'd get help from other jurors or, say, bumping netherlands up so i could have a talking point when i tried to date waylon later (i am sure this wouldn't be the stupidest jury reason for a vote if i somehow did have a chance with him). i would not let myself get wooed by lobbies no matter what i could lose (... unless i was azeri or armenian and the thing i could lose was my life?).

01 :se: (I don't think I as jury member should punish it just because it is modern, mainstream and generic, it is one of the most quality produced entries of this year, and perfomance is eye-captivating, original, unique enough, perfect match with the song and its theme and mood, ( camera work and cuts from SVT are amazing, like always, I appreciate the idea of making music video on the scene, in live), he is 3rd youngest contestant this year, but yet professional performer, so why not?)
02 :at: ( almost same as I mentioned for Sweden, plus he is one of the best male vocalists this year, imo, if not the best)
03 :cy: (also generic and modern, but her energy is amazing, she brought her song with her performance on completely another level, really outstanding performance, and it is very hard to sing and dance like that, and she managed to do both)
04 :ee:
05 :hu:
06 :de:
07 :it: (just because of great lyrics and message, I don't like their agressive yelling singing style, but maybe they use that way to express better emotion and message of the song, and Italy always delivers quality, whether song is someone's taste or not)
08 :pt:
09 :bg:
10 :cz:
11 :lt:
12 :fr:
13 :md: (just because of perfomance, I give them credit, I am trying to be objective, because it is my 26th place in final actually)
14 :dk:
15 :al:
16 :il: (clucking make this song trashy, despite great point they had in mind when creating it, and starting idea of the message, it is subjectively my 25th place, but also I give her credit, because she is great and silliness make this song unique enough not to be last place by any jury, I guess)
17 :nl:
18 :ie:
19 :es:
20 :au:
21 :uk:
22 :fi:
23 :sl:
24 :ua:( just because of non-existent language usage, if he sang in Ukrainian maybe he would be in top 10, imo)
25

I don't think that being original enough necessary leads you to the first jury place just because of that, I look at the whole package and production also, so that will explain my 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. :)

If I were a jury member, I would set my own criteria and wouldn't care much for radio-friendliness: songs that are different and/or sung in languages other than English wouldn't be castigated for being so. On the contrary, safe songs wouldn't be a safe bet with me. For the lulz, I tried to come up with a "professional" ranking made up of several rankings regarding composition quality, performance and staging. I gave points according to the place each country reached in each of them, and this is what it looks like:

01 :ee:
02 :sl:
03 :pt:
04 :cz:
05 :ua:
06 :nl:
07
08 :il:
09 :lt:
10 :rs:
11 :hu:
12 :cy:
13 :it:
14 :se:
15 :md:
16 :at:
17 :bg:
19 :al:
20 :es:
21 :fi:
22 :uk:
23 :ie:
24 :de:
25 :dk:
26 :au:

Personal preferences still show through here and there (it's inevitable), yet it looks rather balanced to me.

Sure, I would be sad to see Hungary be out, but except for them and Moldova, I don't care that much of the songs in semi 2 as you can see in the final ranking. (Ukraine being my third in the semi, and 16th in the final). So having a 15-5 would for me personally not be that bad, I would still have Sweden in (no matter what I like about our song, it is always more fun to have your own country in), and Moldova. From semi 1 I would get really good songs like Azerbaijan, Belgium and of course Switzerland which I would have loved to see qualify this year. So as a whole, I think the final would almost be at the same level as 2016, even if I would have to lose Hungary.

My top 10 in the final as an objective jury member (random order)

definitely:

Estonia
Israel
Denmark
Italy
France
Lithuania
Serbia
Austria
Moldova

last spot doubtful case because either a.) the performance wasn't on point or b.) the performance was good but the song not good enough
a.) Bulgaria
b.) Norway
a.) UK (not talking about the incident)
a.) Cyprus

As for the semis:

I would definitely have chosen Greece, Montenegro and Armenia. Maybe even Georgia.

I explained it a lot of times, I really love Alex, he is my favorite winner of all times, together with Loreen (I can't decide between them, both are amazing, and both are my number one on the winners list), but I think his song is suitable more for JESC, that is all, only good thing is his undeniable charm and charisma. And it is very competitive year, so even last place is not bad, in my opinion, but I must to put someone there, it was really hard to choose. No hate needed, it is just my opinion, it shouldn't bother you, you can enjoy this song, and this is just a game "We as juries". :) But you as a jury member can enjoy his performance and put it in top 5, if you like. I can't change the way I see some song, and also you can't change your taste. :D
