Tynna still sounds off to me for basically the whole Song, and I expected something different after hearing several people say she improved so much. Well, she still has a little time.

The song does not need amazing vocals, but this still would not be enough IMO. But well, Lena is far, far, far from a great singer too but nobody bothered with that because she had "charisma". So I guess Raab still thinks the same will apply here, given he said skill does not matter for Eurovision and all that. We will see.

Can't they just put some background singer(s) in a dark spot on the stage and have them sing the song with her? I still remember how that background guy (far, far back, dressed in all black) carried the entire chorus of Ivi Adamou's La La Love in 2012.

These says they don't even have to be on the stage, but even live backing singers can't save everything (ireland 2021 and Austria 2023)

I think in general this song is difficult to sing live. the main problem still is the prerecorded "Baller" It just does not sound good.

I think they should´ve picked a song that´s more on the deeper side of the voice spectrum, the heights were always difficult for her.

Well, I think it's pretty hard to judge the vocals based on some recording from the audience of a concert. The vocals from the first semi of he NF still sound superior, and I hope they can somehow reproduce that

After listening to every song finally...I must say Baller is in my Top 10. Studio version is great

Unfortunately I'm certain we have another Mae Muller situation in our hands, but I'm hoping to be wrong.

Vocals from audience recordings usually sound better than from the live mic feed though, so it is worrying

For me, the original (and not entirely perfect) live version is a 10. If the "balle-le-le" part is pre-recorded, it would be a 5 or something. It's like a pretty car without wheels.

Tynna acts very cool on stage. I hope the staging will focus on her. Dancers wouldnt be a good idea.
Yeah, I like her vibe very much, this why I hope they are not going to mess with that.
Albina had more relaxed and natural vibe in NF and she ended up over choreographed and everything way out of her comfort zone.

Today :de: had the honour to close the ESC kompakt songchecks 2025.

The verdict of the bloggers:

Chris - It simply rocks. In a just world, that would be more successful than "Always on the Run." Let's hope Tynna recovers in time, and the problems with the chorus and staging can be resolved satisfactorily. :10:

Giulia - I think it's right that Germany sends this kind of music. It's what young people in Germany are listening to right now. A mix of Nina Chuba and Ski Aggu. I think the song would go down well at a German festival, but it wouldn't be good enough to be played at prime time. Sure, Tynna's voice still needs to improve. But something can be gained from the song and Tynna's charisma. But I already know that there won't be a cool prsentation, because Germany doesn't even know what presentationmeans. All we'll have is a meaningless stage set. :6:

Laureen - I like the entry, and it even made it onto two of my playlists: the one for the Eurovision Song Contest and the playlist for German-language music, which I affectionately dubbed "Görmany" (for those who are interested). The entry is modern, clever, and fun. I'm still worried about the live performances. :7:

Peter - Rarely have I noticed such a stark discrepancy between the perception of a German song at home and abroad. While the title is often celebrated by fans in Europe, here it is very often met with a shrug of the shoulders or indifference. I really like "Baller" and I celebrate the song. Two things worry me: "Baller" is not unique in its year; there are many things that will be compared to it – from Belgium to Austria and Finland to Australia. And I fear Stefan Raab will make the production worse. The smashing of a cello, for example, I personally find "rubble," as my friend Daniel would say. Tasteless and inappropriate, I cannot understand what´s good about smashing a classical instrument. :10:

Rick - This song simply blasts. And I'd say so even if the song weren't called "Baller." A fresh sound that perfectly reflects contemporary Germany and is incredibly catchy. I adore the electronic sound, and Abor's cello adds the necessary recognizability. Even though I'm just as uncertain about Basel as everyone else, I haven't been this "positively excited" to see a German entry on the Eurovision Song Contest stage in a long time. :12:

The points of the other bloggers:

Benny - :8: Berenike - :10: Danio - :12: Douze Points - :8: Manu - :10: Max - :12:

I think they are overestimating the song and its chances a lot.

As someone who has zero understanding for anything national pride, including bias for the "own" song in Eurovision: ESCKompakt is wild this year in regards to "Baller". They seriously rated the vocals a 3.5/5 one day after giving Remember Monday a 4/5 😭
I get hyping the own entry is a thing for people, but I always find it a bit embarassing 😅
