Most of them are younger teenager. I think a song can be appropriate for children / teenager AND having a modern, more global appeal. What Kika is showing with these songs (since their debut) is exactly the same kind of mediocrity german education provides as the goal to reach if you want to make it creatively. So basically the Junior Version of that vanilla radio pop we get from NDR every year. It's fine if they think that is the right thing to do but why bother to even participate in a competition then?Well, they are, as a matter of fact, children. And I think for the people in charge of the German entry keeping it this way plays a bigger role than actually trying to win the contest. Other countries might have higher aspirations.
