Seriously?
Nothing against Lena, but that's way too much hype. As I said, I liked the show... :?

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011

yeah i enjoyed the show as well but since it was no joke from stefan raab and lena i am pretty sure they will do it again.

but they could still make a new casting show for next years esc... not "unser star für XXX" but "unser song für XXX"

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011

Is that even allowed? Just asking..

I personally wouldn't mind Lena participating again, it's clear that she won't win again, regardless of the song, but Germany won't win next year anyway (nowadays it's just impossible to defend the title), so why not. She has won and she has become a legend, and nobody can take that away from her.

Plus, I'm pretty sure she can do Top 10 next year again.

But I guess the ARD/NDR will not be very happy with Raab's plan of sending Lena again, so I would say the chances of seeing Lena in competition again are only around 20% at the moment.

Now it is more or less official. Lena will start again 2011.

Raab and Lena announced it on a press conference. the officials from NDR, ARD etc. agree to it.

She shouldn't do it...

It would be better for her to start her real career and established herself in this music world. Some years later she could return, but now it would be dangerous, cause if she did bad next year she would ruin it all. Be careful, Lena!

^ I agree! There is no way she can win again and if you ask me she's being arrogant! She won, she knows she can't win again so she should let someone else try their luck in ESC.

^ I don't think she's being arrogant + I don't think it's her decission. People behind her is seeing money there and they're working on it. She's just 19 and newbie here and what will she say? "Yes, wanna". That's all ;)

Don't be ridiculous. A Wimbledon champion has every right and is indeed expected to defend his title.

There's no written or unwritten rule against an ESC winner defending his or her title. You can then decide whether you wish to vote for her or not. Entirely up to you.

But to question her character as you do is totally unfounded and I guess its born out of a general dislike of her on your part. Quite petty a reaction.

Obviously she very much enjoyed the whole competition. I trust the vast majority of the German ESC viewers will proudly support her another time. She's more popular here (even before winning in Oslo) than anyone else and I dare say anyone has been during the course of my lifetime.

She won, she knows she can't win again so she should let someone else try their luck in ESC.

Well, plenty of people doubted Germany could win another ESC... Lena won it. If people like her second entry as much, she'll win again. If they don't like it as much, she won't. Quite simple.

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011

The title can be changed into "DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011 - Lena - [Song unknown]"

It's 95% sure after today's press conference. Instead of "Our star for ...", next year's show will probably be called "Our song for ...".

I guess she knows that her chances of winning again are around zero. BUT: Lena has always said that winning is not important in the ESC. She won in 2010 and nobody can take that away from her, and she seems to have a lot of fun in the ESC, more than most other contestants, so I guess the choice is okay. :)

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011

No you got me wrong. I don't dislike her and I adore her song. The fact that she's so young may affect her judgement. If the people behind her make her believe she can win again (well in the future maybe but not right after her victory) and she doesn't, that would devastate her!

And of course if people like her, she'll win again. But honestly I've seen it so many times. People who got a great result (I'm talking mostly about the NFs) and return again, don't get many votes. If Lena wants to try again she'll need a song better than Satellite! And yes you can find a better one but the fact that Lena will be singing again might have a negative affect on people. Europe might think "OK she won last year, why is she back?". I'm sorry but the way I see it, Lena's comeback won't have the same success as this year...

But look all the "champions" that returned!

Carola - Sweden 2006 - 5th place
Charlotte Perrelli - Sweden - 2008 - 18th
Niamh Kavanagh - Ireland - 2010 - 23rd

Not to mention the ones back in the 50's but those were different times...

Yes, that is exactly why I think this is a bad idea, it could even beat Norway as the worst result a host country has done and add to that list. Now all we need is Dima to go again for Russia and we will have another returning winner as well.

Well I didn't mention Chiara coz she didn't win. But if she keeps returning the eurofans will get sick of her and finally give her the victory she wants!

I wouldn't vote for Chiara unless she had a damn good song regardless of how many times she shows up :p

I don't think she'd be at all devastated. Not at all that sort of character, as I think any person who's been following her course through the national selection and who's been watching her interviews (the bulk of them being in German) will agree.

Johnny Logan performed ast the ESC twice and won both times... It can be done.

Niamh Kavanagh - Ireland - 2010 - 23rd

As said, Johnny Logan did it...

And Carola's 5th place is solid enough. A success.

It can be done.

Carola is the only successful winner to have returned recently.

I think it would be a disaster for Lena to return./

I'll bet you 100 bucks that she'll make the Top5. :)

And if she does indeed return I bet she won't even enter top 10. But let's withhold all official betting until we have a song if she returns.

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011

This years entry and Lena's two other singles were chosen out of 5000 songs, that composers sent to USFO. And now, that she is so extremely popular (at least in Germany), I can imagine that they will be able to select out of much more and better songs. Would be nice if there were some shows spread over the whole year, where Lena gets new singles and finally a song for the contest. Hopefully they come up with something in German.
I can't imagine that she will win again, but top10 should be possible.
